Hello family and friends. Unfortunately on Saturday, October 3rd, I took a hard fall on some slippery rocks while walking my dog on the beach, and broke multiple bones in my left foot. What was ment to be a simple walk on the beach turned into my worst nightmare. I typically like to explore where the trees meet the ocean and on this particular day i was checking out a part where a small creek ran to the beach area. I ended up slipping and immediately felt my foot bones break. Unfortunately there was no service where | was at so I was forced to crawl on my hands and knees to a spot along the beach where my iPhone could pick up on the satellites so I could text my family to call paramedics.
Paramedics and NPD arrived about 25 min later and was able to locate me on the beach line, where I was then transported to the ER. X-rays confirmed a lisfranc fracture.
This included three broken bones and a torn ligament. After 7 hours in the ER I was sent home with a splint and informed I would be bed ridden until I could receive surgery.
With that being said I had just moved back to the coast and was focusing most of my time on building up my business sales so I could open my brick and mortar Apothecary. With this unexpected injury I won’t be able to work for awhile until I recover.
I unfortunately was taken off of OHP at the beginning of the year due to new rules and haven’t been able to afford any of the insurance policy’s that are out there. That means I will be responsible for all the medical bills associated with this (beach rescue, ambulance, ER visit, and surgery) With that being said, it anyone has any advice while I navigate this challenging time please feel free to message me.
