I thought I'd take a moment and tell you a little bit more about me.

In addition to being a nurse with nearly 2 decades of experience, I am also an artist and writer--and, like you, many, many other things 😉 The beaded mosaic below is one of my creations: "Universal Heart"

I’m inspired by hearts because you can take heart cells from two different hearts and they beat to their own rhythm—but when the cells are in close proximity to each other, they begin to beat in a unified rhythm. To me, that’s the essence of caregiving: we are wired for connection, and something powerful happens when we attune to each other.

That’s what I hope to build here. A place where our rhythms align, where we can share stories, tools, and encouragement.

I have been writing a book!--

MY NURSE ALLY: THINK LIKE A NURSE. CARE LIKE FAMILY. ADVOCATE LIKE A BADASS memoir/how-to hybrid for the 53+ million family caregivers in America struggling to balance a loved one’s care with their own lives. MY NURSE ALLY is an insider's field guide to help Caregivers navigate the US Healthcare System using the skills and techniques I've used as a nurse, mother of a special needs child, and as a patient facing her own healthcare crisis to advocate for my patients, their families, as well as my own family.

With a nursing career spanning nearly two decades across acute care, managed care, and complex care coordination, nursing has been the unexpected gift that prepared me for the hardest jobs I never applied for: caregiver, mother of a special needs child, and patient facing an undiagnosed medical condition that nearly destroyed me.

My Nurse Ally meets caregivers where they are--likely overwhelmed, overworked, and feeling alone. with accessible tools, blended with trauma-informed, impactful stories, and professional insights in a format that is both easily digestible and visually appealing.

I will be sharing more about my book, and my pathway to authorship in the coming weeks and months as I venture into the world of book proposals, literary agent queries, and publishing.

I hope that you will not only join me on this journey, but include others who might need to have a NURSE ALLY on their side.

This book and the community that will grow around it is the help I needed as a caregiver, but never got—an ALLY that teaches caregivers how to move through a healthcare system struggling to meet the needs of those who need it most. It is my whisper to in the hospital hallway that they are not alone, and that grace can slip in through even the tiniest cracks.
