Because kratom can affect opioid receptors, naloxone should be given if an overdose is suspected and someone is unresponsive or not breathing normally.

When in doubt: Give naloxone, call 911, and stay with the person.

Knowing how to respond in an emergency can save a life.

Kratom and concentrated 7-OH products are not the same.

As these products become more prevelant, knowing what’s in them and understanding the potential risks matters.

Know the difference. Know the facts.

🌿 How much do you actually know about kratom?

With recent changes to Rhode Island law reversing the state’s previous kratom ban, kratom products are now legally available for sale to adults 21+ under new regulations.

As these products become more visible in our communities, education is more important than ever.

Throughout the next week, the Portsmouth Prevention Coalition will be sharing a Kratom Education Series covering what kratom is, why people use it, potential risks, emerging concentrated products like 7-OH, and what Rhode Islanders should know.

We had such a great time at the Portsmouth Middle School Ice Cream Social. 🍦🍨

We offered prevention & mental health resources for students and parents along with squishes (of course).

We also had students fill out a hand 👋 with things they are grateful for!

Portsmouth puts kratom under the microscope - EastBayRI.com As kratom becomes increasingly available for sale in Rhode Island, the Portsmouth Prevention Coalition wants residents to know more about what they’re buying — and what risks may come with it.
