✅ DO DOUBLE CLEANSE YOUR FACE -
Use and oil base cleanser / micellar water to break down makeup on the surface of your face then follow up with a gentle cleanser to remove any surface debris/ pollutants that aren’t seen by the naked eye.

🚫 DON’T FALL ASLEEP WITH MAKEUP ON - listen we’ve all been there. Falling asleep with makeup leads to more breakouts and spreading bacteria on your pillow.

✅DO WEAR SPF - protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays. SPF Reduces sunburn, prevents the signs of aging, reduces inflammation, reduces the risk of skin cancer, and prevents skin from discoloration.

🚫DON’T OVER EXFOLIATE- when it comes to exfoliating impurities on the surface of your skin it can be “too much of a good thing”. Over exfoliating can lead the skin irritated and increase redness. It’s important to limit exfoliating once or twice a week at most.

✅DO WASH YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES-
Dirty brushes can harvest bacteria and think about all the dirt and oil that you’re re applying to your face if you’re reusing dirty brushes.

🚫DON’T PICK YOUR ACNE- treat your acne! Picking acne can spread bacteria around from your hands & face and can cause scaring/ dark spots. Try spot treating with products containing salicylic acid/ benzoyl peroxide.

So for the past few months I’ve been doing what I do best... OVERTHINK. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my logo, I worked hard on my concept, but I thought to myself...and thought hard..that I knew I could do better. For weeks I had this thought, along with the famous quote “Grow through what you go through.” I really wanted something that portrayed mental health & the beauty behind the mind. My thought wasn’t clear and for weeks it was driving me crazy. I considered reaching out to someone to do my logo, but in my heart I knew it wasn’t something I wanted. I wanted to show my creativity and effort behind what I do.
Last night I couldn’t sleep and I woke up at 6am this morning with an idea. I quickly grabbed my iPad and spent hours drawing. When I’m adamant about something, I won’t stop til it’s done. && what do you know...my unclear thought became a reality through the expression of my art.
I’m proud of myself for not giving up on this concept. The flowers represent growing thoughts and positive thinking while the butterfly represents transformation and beauty. I added a lipstick & a makeup brush to tie it all together because let’s be honest the Makeup Your Mind pun is great and became my brand.
So happy to grow through this journey, and thank you all for showing so much love in my work❤️

You see, there are days where all I can see is happiness, & colors, but the minute anxiety hits it’s like this dark place of negative thoughts/emotions. So I decided to create my feelings through makeup. I find it therapeutic & inspirational. I’m extremely hard on myself, and I tend to overachieve. But you know, overachieving has its set backs. I never ever want anyone to see my struggles, as most people don’t. But we’re human & we make mistakes, just like we learn from them. I’m working on positive thinking, as we all should.
