Author/Educator Ray McKenna’s Great Great Grandfather worked at New England Butt Company having immigrated from Ireland. Ray spoke at the Rhode Island Historical Society about his new book “Embracing Hope - The Famine Irish Experience in Providence, Rhode Island.”

Met with John Barrett today in Holyoke Mass at Letterpress Things. We print much of our rope sales packaging in-house using letterpress and John has spent many hours over the years teaching us the process. He has supplied us with ink and support materials. Today we were stocking up again as we head into 2026. John has been featured in several documentaries. We’ve learned from the best. John celebrates his 25th year this year of serving the letterpress community.

We visited the former Tilton Endless Belt factory in Tilton, NH. We generously use historic Tilton endless belts on our NE Butt Co braiding machines. This factory, by Arthur S. Brown, made and supplied fan belts for Henry Ford’s Model T and other uses. Pictured here are the historic Tilton machine belts we use ourselves, along with a Tilton 202 for the Ford model T with the original sales packaging box.
