So the wonderful thing about today was being among friends and family at church, and being there reminded of my Mary Kay why. You know one of the first things they tell you when you join Mary Kay is to create an affirmation, which is simply a statement of who you are, something that motivates you to keep going and then briefly tell the story of why you joined and then once you stay a while, add to your story why you have stayed. Quite honestly, I struggled with that affirmation because everything I thought of seemed corny or somebody else had already listed it, and I didn’t want it to sound fake. So, let me paint the picture for you. I belong to a church in the country, so it’s a nice little drive to get there. I remember long ago going to an afternoon service and feeling overwhelmed as I drove with a few miles left because the affirmation hit me and it hit me hard.  I pulled over to the side of the road and I actually cried, something I rarely do. I felt the spirit of the Lord tell me to tell you that I am led by his spirit, and I am filled with his grace. I added a few more lines to it to my affirmation to tell my story but I was reminded again this morning in church, when our scripture reading for the text of the sermon came from the eighth chapter of Romans, and as I read the text in verse one, my eyes fell further down the page to the scripture reference for my affirmation starting at verse 14. Stopping and starting over again is so hard and I never had a good reason to stop which is why I never stopped for long and I quickly started again. Somebody or something will always remind you that you are not where you were supposed to be when you start straying from your purpose or or distracted from your vision. The first person I ever recruited to my team told me that timing and positioning is crucial. She was taught that by someone in the Air Force. Originally I joined in 2001 so I’m approaching 25 years total but renewed passion has created the best 13 years since my last start to convince me that I should never stop loving Mary Kay and all that it is adding to my life. I’m loving the new technology tools and my shop online is the best thing I could imagine.

I’m a child of the most high, and I certainly love all who share this journey with me. Yes, the new chapters of life we are yet to write and they will be directly impacted by the mission and mentors from my Mary Kay life. One chapter recently started on YouTube as I get to share my thoughts on the Faith with Flavors podcast. Now is the time. And the position has always been the stance that allows us to be led by his spirit. What we have to go through to accomplish our goals is nothing compared to the joy of reaching them. We’re doing this differently, but most importantly we’re still doing this!

Led by his spirit and full of his grace,
God gave me a mission and I run at a marathon pace.
He blesses the works of our hands to put smiles on every face.
He establishes the outcomes of each goal we put into place.

I am having the time of my life because he has given me joy and yes, beauty for ashes, and I remain committed to empowering people all over the world. I was the plain and simple country girl as my national Director used to call me. I wore no make up. I only started my business to make extra income needed to take care of my children. Well, the children are grown and I love what being “in Mary Kay” means today. I am grateful for the plethora of blessings that came in my starter kit. I didn’t know it way back when, I just thought I was gonna make a little extra money, but that kit was going to affirm my identity. It came with millionaire mentors to help me grow into a better version of myself. Those mentors not only focused on the dollars I could make to help my family, but they focused more on teaching ways to serve others through my business and because of my business. That kit came full of faith that with putting God first, we would be blessed to be a blessing. That kit came with affirmations, encouragement and support that helps me to become all that God intended me to be. That kit came with a spark that ignited a fire inside of me at a time when I did not even feel the flicker. I didn’t know it then, but I was born to be an entrepreneur, a reflection of light, and a voice of encouragement. In the spirit of the legacy of leaders who impacted my life, I am now joining with friends as one of the hosts of a new venture, a YouTube podcast, Faith with Flavors. Our purpose is simple. With each session, we hope to engage our listeners in conversations that encourage us to joyfully navigate through this thing, called life as our faith leads, and we are flavoring it with all of our uniqueness so that we may all walk in purpose on purpose with purpose. I now understand that time is the most valuable gift we have. Once spent, it cannot be recaptured except as a memory and once wasted, it is even harder to recoup.
