Today is William’s birthday, he would be 29 years old.
This time of year can feel heavy with expectations, full calendars, and pressure to get everything right. If you knew Will, you know he did the opposite. He lived in the moment and made the most of whatever the day offered.
Last night we watched the Maryland women pull off a miracle comeback at Minnesota, down nine points with forty-four seconds left in double overtime. Ten straight points. Pure joy. Will would have loved every second of it, the surprise, the energy, the way a moment can turn into a memory you keep. He would have been screaming his head off!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed this season, I hope you’ll give yourself permission to slow down. The greatest gift we can ever give is our time. Share a meal, play a game, bake something together, watch a favorite movie and just be present. None of us is promised tomorrow, so make time today for the people you love.
We will gather tonight in memory of Will, connecting with Thomas in California and laughing about the many silly, joyful moments we’ve shared. Will would be so happy if his memory inspired more love and laughter and even a little shenanigans.
Happy Birthday, William. You, Joseph and Thomas are the best gifts we’ve ever received.

June 27, 2025 marks eight years since we lost William.
Recently Michael and I have each faced some health challenges. They’ve reminded us just how much William endured - and how little, by comparison, we really had to face. We’ve come to appreciate even more deeply how brave, selfless and quietly heroic he was through it all. Despite the scans, surgeries, treatments, and the pain, he was often more concerned with comforting us than himself.
In those moments, we found ourselves drawing on Will’s strength and faith. If he could do it - face it, endure it - then so could we. That resilience, that steady courage, feels like one of the many gifts he left behind. It’s a superpower we carry with us, a reminder that we can do anything as long as we do it together.
Without realizing it, William taught us how to live. He showed us what really matters in the end: love. Loving others more than yourself, showing up with joy, making the most of the moment. It’s simple, but it brings peace and clarity.
We miss him deeply - his smile, his mischievousness, his laughter, his ability to brighten any room. Today, as you think of Will, we hope you will be inspired to live wholeheartedly. Bring joy. Share love. Lift someone up. That’s how we’ll honor Will.

December 8th was William Jennings Michael Glowacki's birthday. This year he would have been 26 years old. It’s been 1,990 days, the equivalent of 5 years, 5 months and 15 days since he died. We still miss him so deeply. There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by where we haven't thought of him. Some days we smile and laugh remembering something he said or did and other days we still cry, the great void without him remains.
Recently I read a book by Mitch Albom entitled The Stranger in the Lifeboat. It’s a quick read about a group of shipwrecked passengers who call out to God for help. They pull a strange man from the water who says he can save them all, but only if they believe in him. At one point in the story, Benjamin, a man whose wife died of cancer, asked God why his wife had to die. God says, “When someone passes, Benjamin, people always ask, “Why did God take them?” A better question would be “Why did God give them to us? What did we do to deserve their love, their joy, the sweet moments we shared?” Later in the conversation God goes on to say, “I know the tears you shed, Benjamin. When people leave this Earth, their loved ones always weep. But I promise you, those who leave do not.”
William was a gift. He left an indelible mark on our hearts and his story has touched many more people than he ever actually met.
William did not question his faith. He believed wholeheartedly in God and prayed regularly. He brought us so much joy and lived with a gratitude and grace we all admired. Will wanted to live, but seemed to accept that his time on Earth would be cut short. There was no sense of panic or regret; he had shared his life with the ones he loved and they knew how he felt about them. He was at peace.
He was kind, adventurous and curious but also content right where he was at any given moment. Friendships came easily to Will. Joseph and Thomas were his first and best friends, he would be so proud of the young men they have become. Brothers by birth, but friends by choice. Michael and I are so grateful our boys chose to remain close even as their lives took them in different directions.
We don’t know what we could possibly have done to deserve the gift of Will, but we are immensely grateful for him. Will’s example not only showed us how to live and appreciate every moment, but he also quietly taught us how to face death. If we are able to follow his example, when our time comes we will be able to leave this life content in the knowledge that we gave the best of ourselves to others, that we were generous with our words and our deeds, and that we fulfilled our life’s mission.
I pray Mitch Albom is right, that the ones who leave us never weep. They are at peace.
Today, please take a moment to raise a glass to our William and lean into your life’s purpose. Love freely, forgive easily and laugh often.
Happy Heavenly Birthday Willie!
