huff.to How to talk to your daughter about her body, step one: Don't talk to your daughter about her body, except to teach her how it works. Don't say anything if she's lost weight. Don't say anything if she's gained weight. Here are some things you can say instead.
A Mighty Girl
For your 103rd birthday, you should get to do what you want and for Mary Cotter from Montclair, California that meant volunteering at her local senior center -- dressed as Wonder Woman! For 25 years, Cotter has been serving coffee and tea at the Monclair Seniors Center, so when her friends presented her with the Wonder Woman outfit for her birthday this week, she put it on and went straight back to work.
The centenarian still lives alone and drives to and from the center five days a week to volunteer her time. “They call me the barmaid because I’m serving drinks,” she jokes. She says that the secret to her longevity is to "just keep moving." Cotter helped her high school win that state swim championship in 1930, taught swimming lessons to children into her 60s, and helped rescue sea turtles long into her 90s. While her friends and colleagues at the senior’s center made a bit of a fuss for her birthday, Cotter took it all in stride. “I don’t know, just another day went by,” she laughed.
A Mighty Girl wishes Wonder Woman Mary Cotter a very happy 103rd birthday!

92-year-old Harriette Thompson set a new world record yesterday as the oldest woman to ever complete a marathon after she ran the San Diego marathon in seven hours and 24 minutes! The grandmother of ten from Charlotte, North Carolina has run in 16 out of the past 17 Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathons and raised over $100,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the process.
Thompson ran her first marathon at age 76 and tells people that "it's never too late" to start exercising. Last year, when she ran the marathon in little over seven hours, she set another world record for the fastest running time in her age group, beating the previous marathon record for women 90 and up by two hours and 45 minutes.
During Sunday's run, she said, "I was really tired at one point. Around Mile 21, I was going up a hill and it was like a mountain and I was thinking, ‘This is sort of crazy at my age.’ But then I felt better coming down the hill." A classically trained pianist, Thompson said in an interview that she replays pieces in her head to keep pace while running: "I usually think of Chopin etudes, the ones that are technically difficult, because usually they're pretty fast, and it stimulates me to go a little faster, and also helps pass the time."
A three-time cancer survivor whose husband of 67 years passed away after a long battle with cancer last January, Thompson has supported the San Diego race for years due to its dedication to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: “That makes it personal, something that I really feel is important." She added, "(The) Leukemia & Lymphoma (Society), that’s the main reason I do run. But then I was thinking, I probably wouldn’t be here if I didn’t do this run every year, because it keeps me active all year. So I’m sort of being paid back for my efforts. People wonder how I can do it at my age, and that may be it.”
Congratulations to Harriette on another successful marathon and for setting a new world record! To read more in the Charlotte Observer, visit http://bit.ly/1eLhxHX
