I understand that things happen. I truly do. I’ve always tried to be understanding and work with people when unexpected circumstances come up, especially when I know how tight finances can be for a lot of people.

But there is a difference between needing some understanding and taking advantage of someone’s kindness.

When a service has been provided, an invoice has been issued, and an agreed-upon payment date has passed without payment or communication, that is no longer something I can simply overlook. My time, my products, my skills, education, and my business have value, and I expect that value to be respected.

Unfortunately, situations like this are exactly why I have policies in place. And when those policies are ignored, it affects how I have to conduct business moving forward—even for the clients who consistently do the right thing and pay their invoices on time.

I will always do my best to work with people when life happens. But I will not allow my kindness or flexibility to be taken advantage of.

Moving forward, unpaid services and outstanding invoices will be handled accordingly. Clients who choose not to honor their financial obligations will no longer be permitted to book with me, and when necessary, I will take the appropriate steps to recover payment.

My policies are there for a reason. They protect my business, my time, and my clients—and I will be sticking to them.
