We got a REALLY good report from the neuro-ophthalmologist yesterday! 🙌

My vision is still very good. My brain and I are just having a little disagreement about the recovery timeline. 😂 They said I’m seeing everything I should be seeing; there’s just some swelling that needs time to settle down.

I mean, they did essentially burn a tumor out of my brain, so I’m not sure why I expected it to bounce back overnight. LOL! 🤦‍♀️😂

They were even able to put corrective lenses in front of my eyes, and I could see what felt like PERFECTLY! So, lots to celebrate!

It’s honestly been nice to slow down, relax, and not have a million responsibilities on my shoulders for once. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve been able to do that. ❤️

A HUGE shout-out to Sarah and Danielle, who told me to sit my butt down because they had it handled—and BOY, have they delivered! They’ve kept things going and given me the chance to focus on healing. I truly can’t thank them enough. ❤️

And to our amazing Hair Garage clients… THANK YOU. Your kindness, patience, compassion, and understanding have been incredible. Your messages, encouragement, and willingness to work around our limited hours have given me so much faith in humanity.

I’m still healing, and apparently my brain is going to do things on its own schedule. 😂 But we’re getting good news, moving in the right direction, and taking it one day at a time.

The Garage is in good hands, and I’m one very lucky gal to have this team and all of you in my corner. ❤️

I hope you all got to enjoy a little of this beautiful day.

Just wanted to give you all a little follow-up. We got really good reports from the doctor today, which was definitely nice to hear!

I do still have a fair amount of swelling, which is causing some blurry vision, but everything is normal and expected at this point. The good news is that it should all return to normal with a little thing called patience… clearly my strongest attribute. 😂

The best way I can explain it is that my eyes basically spent several hours being exposed to the sun — except the “sun” was a laser — and now they just need some time to reset and recover. ☀️👀

Unfortunately, they can’t give me an exact timeline for how long that healing will take, but the doctor said typically around 4–6 weeks. We’re already halfway there, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the next couple weeks bring some noticeable improvement!

I’m home, rested, and feeling pretty good! I do have a few minor side effects, but nothing unexpected.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has sent prayers, well wishes, messages, and checked in on me. It truly means so much. ❤️

As instructed by my family, clients, and probably everyone who knows me 😂, I’m going to wait until after my follow-up before returning to the shop. So, I’m thinking around the second week of October, but I’ll keep everyone updated.

We’ll update here as soon as I’m able to open the schedule back up. Trust me, I’m ready — I’m probably going to be bored by Tuesday! 😂

As for the second surgery I mentioned previously, that has been pushed back to mid-January per my doctor’s orders for safety reasons. That means I’ll be back for all the important holidays and through the first part of January before we go back to a funky schedule for about 6 weeks.

Plenty of time to pre-book and plan ahead!

Thank you all again for being so incredibly patient, supportive, and understanding. I’m very lucky to have such an amazing group of clients. ❤️ and my amazing girls whom stepped up so big to help keep us up and running.

Amie’s daughter here! I just wanted to give everyone a little update, she is officially out of surgery, doing well, and currently recovering. 🥰

We truly appreciate all of the love, prayers, messages, and support you have shown her. It means so much to our family! ❤️

I’m already stir-crazy and surgery isn’t even until the 24th! 😂 We’ve got all my pre-op appointments scheduled, so I’ll be back in the shop the rest of this week with limited hours, then I’ll be out all next week.

Sarah and Danielle’s schedules will remain the same.

My return date is still TBD and will depend on my post-op appointment.

I just want to take a minute to say how incredibly thankful I am for all of you. Your patience, understanding, and support while I navigate this crazy medical situation truly means the world to me.

For the time being, we’ll have limited hours:

Sarah: Tuesday & Thursday 10–6, Wednesday 10–3
Danielle: Saturday 9–1

My (Amie’s) schedule will be posted day by day as soon as we know what we can do.

I have two surgeries coming up between now and October, and there are several specialist appointments that need to happen first. Because of that, even if I’m posted as working, there is a chance I may have to cancel my schedule on short notice.

I know this can be frustrating and confusing, and I’m truly sorry for that. We’re doing the very best we can to keep the doors open and take care of our clients while I take care of myself.

Thank you for sticking with us, being patient, and supporting our little shop through all of this. I appreciate you more than you know. ❤️

Please read!

You may notice that our online scheduling site is currently not showing appointments with Amie starting September 14th and beyond.

Amie will be having surgery before the end of September, and there are several specialist appointments that need to happen beforehand.
Some of these appointments may come up with very little notice.

Rather than book everyone and then have to make a bunch of changes, we’re temporarily holding Amie’s online schedule while we get everything figured out.

In the meantime, Sarah will be filling a large portion of Amie’s schedule, with Danielle helping on the weekends. Both ladies have full-time jobs outside of the shop, and they are stepping up BIG to help keep The Hair Garage going while Amie takes care of what she needs to.

If you need an appointment with Amie after September 14th, please call the shop or send us a message through Facebook or Square. We’ll do our best to get you taken care of.

Sarah and Danielle’s schedules will be opened up as soon as we’re able to get everything in place.
