Before walking into work I see this owl sitting on top of the building. Just looking out over the parking lot

This owl sat unfazed as crows circled, squawking and antagonizing.
I watched as this owl continued to peer out as if nothing was happening.

Be like this owl guys. Don't let the squawking of others faze you. You do you no matter what.

Well, we have a list of #foods that are tasty and can help you improve your #mentalhealth
Here are a few items to your grocery list 👇

🍓Berries
Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries – if you’re looking for the perfect snack to get your antioxidant fix, this is it. Antioxidants assist in repairing cells, as well as assisting in combating inflammation caused by free radical damage. By reducing the damages caused by free radicals (found in pollutants, cigarette smoke and others), these antioxidants have also been found to assist in improving symptoms associated with #anxiety and #depression. As an added bonus, blueberries and strawberries also contain a compound called polyphenolics, which have been found to improve memory, concentration and attention span.

🥄Yogurt
Many people enjoy yogurt for the added benefit of probiotics (which help your digestive system to run smoothly), however recent research has stated that, thanks to the brain-gut connection, probiotics found in cultures such as yogurt can also impact a person’s mental health, assisting in lowering levels of stress, anxiety and depression.

🌾Wholegrains
According to studies, wholegrains are a rich source of tryptophan, an amino acid that helps to produce serotonin (aka, the ‘feel good hormone’). Serotonin assists in #calming the mind, improving your #mood and maintaining a steady #sleep.

We live #hectic and #stressful lives
These stresses will come and go but, how the stress is managed or when the #stress begins to build it can impact you're all around #mentalwelbeing

Learn how to keep your stress levels in check

Stress takes a heavy toll on mental and emotional health, so it’s important to keep it under control. While not all stressors can be avoided, stress management strategies can help you brings things back into balance.

🗣Talk to a friendly face. Face-to-face social interaction with someone who cares about you is the most effective way to #calm your nervous system and relieve stress. Interacting with another person can quickly put the brakes on damaging stress responses like “fight-or-flight.” It also releases stress-busting hormones, so you’ll feel better even if you’re unable to alter the #stressful situation itself.

🎧Appeal to your senses. Does listening to an #uplifting #song make you feel calm? Or smelling ground coffee or a favorite scent? Everyone responds to sensory input a little differently, so start experimenting now to find what works best for you. Once you discover how your nervous system responds to sensory input, you’ll be able to quickly #calm yourself no matter where or when #stress hits.

🕕Make leisure time a priority. Partake in your favorite activities for no reason other than that they make you feel good. Go to a funny movie, take a walk on the beach, listen to music, read a good book, or talk to a friend. Doing things just because they are fun is no indulgence. Play is an #emotional and #mentalhealth necessity.

🤔Make time for contemplation and appreciation. Think about the things you’re grateful for. Mediate, pray, enjoy the sunset, or simply take a moment to pay attention to what is good, positive, and beautiful as you go about your day.

😌Take up a relaxation practice. While sensory input can relieve stress in the moment, relaxation techniques can help reduce your overall levels of stress—although they’re likely to take more time to learn effectively. #Yoga, #mindfulness #meditation, deep breathing can all help

Breathing exercise reduces stress

Even without formal #meditation and controlled breathing, the gentle muscle stretching of #yoga can reduce stress. If that's not possible then simple deep breathing exercises can help by themselves. Rapid, shallow, erratic breathing is a common response to stress. Slow, deep, regular breathing is a sign of relaxation. You can learn to control your respirations so they mimic relaxation; the effect, in fact, will be relaxing.
Here's how deep breathing exercises work:
1. Breathe in slowly and deeply, pushing your stomach out so that your diaphragm is put to maximal use.

2. Hold your breath briefly.

3. Exhale slowly, thinking "relax."

4. Repeat the entire sequence five to 10 times, concentrating on breathing deeply and slowly.

Deep breathing is easy to learn. You can do it at any time, in any place. You can use deep breathing to help dissipate #stress as it occurs. Practice the #routine in advance; then use it when you need it most. If you find it helpful, consider repeating the #exercise four to six times a day — even on good days.

This excercise is simple and can be done anytime. Take a moment and focus on you.

So,there are many techniques out there to help improve your mental health and alleviate #stress and #anxiety.

Some techniques work best for certain individuals and others may have little affect.
🙋‍♂️ For me it has been consciously acknowledging my #triggers and responding to them rather than allowing them to control my thinking and the other has been #meditation.

Here are some techniques that may help with controlling your stress.⬇️

🧘‍♀️Take a time-out. Practice #yoga, listen to #music, meditate, get a massage, or learn #relaxation techniques. Stepping back from the problem helps clear your head.

🍲Eat well-balanced meals. Do not skip any meals. Do keep healthful, #energy-boosting snacks on hand.

☕Limit #alcohol and #caffeine, which can aggravate #anxiety and trigger panic attacks.

💤Get enough sleep. When #stressed, your body needs additional #sleep and rest.

🏃‍♂️#Exercise daily to help you feel good and maintain your #health. Check out the fitness tips in our upcoming posts.

🙇‍♂️Take deep breaths. Inhale and exhale slowly.

🔟Count to 10 slowly. Repeat, and count to 20 if necessary.

👍Do your best. Instead of aiming for #perfection, which isn't possible, be proud of however close you get.

🎮Accept that you cannot control everything. Put your #stress in perspective: Is it really as bad as you think?

😆Welcome humor. A good #laugh goes a long way.

😃Maintain a positive attitude. Make an effort to replace negative thoughts with #positive ones.

🙋‍♂️Get involved. #Volunteer or find another way to be active in your community, which creates a #support network and gives you a break from everyday stress.

🤔Learn what triggers your anxiety. Is it work, family, school, or something else you can identify? Write in a journal when you’re feeling #stressed or #anxious, and look for a pattern.

🗣Talk to someone. Tell #friends and #family you’re feeling #overwhelmed, and let them know how they can help you. Talk to a #physician or #therapist for professional help.

There are many approaches to improving #mentalhealth.
One technique that has been immensely helpful for myself is #meditation.

Here are some of the benefits:

Better #focus and concentration, improved self-awareness and self-esteem,
lower levels of #stress and #anxiety, and fostering kindness. Meditation also has benefits for your physical health, as it can improve your tolerance for pain and help fight substance #addiction.
