Honored to have been faculty at this year’s Speaker Training Summit for Allergan’s new Skinvive indication. I had the privilege of speaking and injecting to a group of people I consider mentors and friends.
What a perfect time to have FDA approval for the use of Skinvive in the neck to help soften horizontal lines and improve texture of both the face and neck.
I’ve been using Skinvive in my practice since it launched in 2024, and let me tell you, it brings so much to the table when it comes to skin quality and improving the health of the skin. It increases hydration, therefore softening fine lines and wrinkles and giving your skin a natural hydration from within. Dare I say glazed donut, anyone?!
I love this era of aesthetics where we are focusing on quality, not quantity, and can address a patient’s needs at every depth of the face.

Facial Balancing 101 - Lower Face
One of my favorite areas to assess when discussing facial balancing is the chin area. There are four things I look at when assessing the chin.
Projection: This is the one that people get done the most but sometimes it can throw the whole face out of proportion if done incorrectly. Projection for most females should be right around the projection of the lower lip (sometimes slightly behind or in front depending on the lip and tip of most projection)
Length: Base of nose to middle of mouth should be 1/3 total length and middle of
Mouth to bottom of chin should be 2/3 total length. This is one of the biggest ways to lengthen and slim a face.
Width: Female chin width should equal the width of your nasal ala, aka your nostrils while men’s chin should be wider, closer to the width of their mouth.
Shape: Female chins should be round and tapered while males should be more square.
Chins are not one size fits all and should not be treated the same. Taking all of these characteristics into account will help create facial balance and natural looking outcomes.
