It's 11pm. Your child ate three bites of dinner. And you're on your phone typing "toddler won't eat anything is this normal."
I know, because that's how most parents find me.
The problem isn't that there's no information out there. It's that there's too much, most of it contradicts itself, and none of it knows your child.
That's why I started the newsletter. Once a month, one real topic, explained properly by someone who does this every day in clinic. No fear-mongering, no "every child is different" non-answers.
Feeding and speech, plain English, free.

Wondering when to wean your baby off the bottle?
Most parents ask me this around the one-year mark — usually right after someone
else told them it was "time." Here's the thing: readiness isn't a birthday.
It's a set of skills.
Swipe through the 5 signs I look for in clinic before I tell a family they're
ready to start bottle weaning 👉
The one people miss most? Sign #5 — you have to be ready too. A wean rushed by
outside pressure almost never goes smoothly.
If your baby is drinking from a straw or open cup, eating solids well at meals,
and reaching for the bottle more for comfort than hunger — those are the green lights.
And if they're not there yet, that's okay. There's no prize for weaning early.

You've booked the trip. And somewhere in the back of your mind: what is my child actually going to eat?
If your little one has a short list of safe foods, travel can feel less like a holiday and more like negotiating three meals a day in unfamiliar places.
Here's what most parents get wrong — they treat vacation as the perfect chance to expand their child's diet. It's actually the worst possible time. Your child is already overstimulated, off-routine and exhausted. Pressure now sets progress back rather than forward.
Pack the safe foods. Drop the new food goal. Get them regulated before you sit down. That's the whole strategy.

Your toddler isn't choosing beige. Their nervous system is. 🧠
You said it out loud at the appointment. "I'm worried about how my child is eating."
They looked up from the clipboard.
Nodded.
And said: "That's pretty normal. Just keep offering different foods."
You walked out to the parking lot wondering if you imagined the whole thing.
You didn't.
This week's episode breaks down:
— Why pediatricians miss feeding issues and why it's not their fault
— The 5 exact sentences that get a referral faster than anything else
— What to say word-for-word when you hear "just wait and see"
— How to get your child evaluated even if no one writes you a referral

Your picky eater won't drink water. Won't drink juice. Will only accept one specific cup — and even then, maybe not.
And now it's summer in Houston and you're genuinely worried they're dehydrated.
Here's something most people don't realize: sensory food refusal often extends to drinks too. It's the same nervous system. The same texture and temperature sensitivities. Just applied to a cup instead of a plate.
The good news: fluids don't only come from drinking. New blog post covers the signs of dehydration to watch for, cup strategies that actually work for selective drinkers, and the hydrating foods most picky eaters will actually eat — link in bio.
