What’s my style?

✖️healthy hair
✖️poppy dimension
✖️cool people
✖️glowy tones

I’ve made consultations super easy- there’s a form in my links, send it on in and we can chat! Really want to talk in person? Cool- still send it in so we don’t waste time on the boring stuff like what’s your shampoo and can really get to know each other.

I hadn’t gotten to lighten this hair in about a year, but when one of my people finds their way to San Diego I’m ready to put in all the work.

Our service breakdown:
• cut 2-3”
• added some depth
• softly connected her regrowth, blended the sparkles
• balanced out a dark back
• blurred her root a bit

My PNW clients were with me for years, everyone’s home care is impeccable by now which I think makes what we do in the chair that much better ❤️

If I had a dollar for everytime I've said that the opposite is true for each of these things... well… I'd have a lot of dollars.

I dont know how hair myths begin, or how we cant undo them as easily as they start but here we are...

Comment below some of the best myths you've heard or which ones you were most surprised to find are not true...

For someone who’s Instagram handle includes “lovesbalayage” I foil a lot more than you might assume. 😂 why? >>>

I love love love balayage and years ago I think many of us were convinced we could hang up our foils for life. I tried to turn everyone into a balayage, but then came along those poppy foiliages and now we’re here…

Balayage was no longer a replacement for our previous techniques but more of an addition to our education. It taught us to look at hair in gradient and natural ways. Through this we learned additional methods (as shown in my last post) to take our good ole foils and modernize them. (But if you are a balayage you will still see me happy and painting your happy little hairs like Bob Ross)

An EXAMPLE of MAINTENANCE on a blonde like this is:

Session 1: full lightening (includes our root tap and glossing) with a haircut

Session 2: partial lightening w/ haircut

Session 3: faceframe or partial lightening w/ haircut

Session 4: partial lightening w/haircut

>>> these are all placed roughly every 12-14 weeks. This maintains her tone, the health of her ends (haircuts are your friend) and keeps momentum on her hair goals ✌🏻

Anyone who’s gotten a balayage from me can thank this girl right here.

Years ago she volunteered to be a model for a student (me 🙋🏼‍♀️) in a painting class. She was sweet and trusting right off the bat and allowed me to learn something new that would better my career from then on.

So happy to be back in California and do her hair again, this was a little face frame highlight and root melt ✌🏻

Dimensional brunettes are a whole vibe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sick of getting highlights and somehow ending up blonde?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a fellow brunette- SAME.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The maintenance on my brunettes looks a little like this:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Session 1: full lightening service + haircut
time booked: 4-4.5 hours
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Session 2: gloss and blowdry (or haircut)
time booked: 1.5-2 hours
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Session 3: faceframe or partial highlight (+ haircut if needed)
time booked: 2.5-3.5 hours
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Session 4: gloss and blowdry (or haircut)
time booked: 1.5-2 hours

Low maintenance still requires some maintenance- the difference is you’ll never LOOK like you need it ✌🏻

The longer I'm in the industry, the more I value learning new skills. It's the quickest way to stay inspired, avoid the burnout of "groundhogs day" in the salon & keep giving your clients the best hair you're able to give.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Much like color techniques, extension techniques have come SO far just in the last few years.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The type of hair I love doing is NATURAL (looking), HEALTHY hair. When I was looking for an extension method to offer, I LOVED the results I was seeing with Individual Keratin Extensions. They had movement, were highly customizable for each client and were practically undetectable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Recently, I went up to their beautiful Beverly Hills location and got certified in Individual Keratin Extensions and Invisible Tape Extensions!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are 5 reasons why I wanted to offer these extensions for clients- if you are wanting just a little more volume, density or to fill in sparse areas around your face message me!

If you do hair long enough you'll start to go through many hair changes with clients. At this point I've been through pregnancy, postpartum, alopecia, chemo, stress, menopause, perimenopause, hypo and hyperthyroidism & thyroid cancer- just to name a few and only one of those have I experienced personally.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
HAIR IS EVERYTHING (to many people) and while it really isnt everything, everything, it plays a big part in our overall confidence & personal expression.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we experience hairloss, often times our hairstylist is the first person we talk about it with- sometimes we point it out. I always point out changes for my clients because sometimes people are unaware of their own bodies and dont notice until things are dramatically different.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My first recommendation is ALWAYS- TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR, GET YOUR THYROID CHECKED.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we've ever had a talk about this, you'll notice I ask a LOT of questions, I might make some guesses, but always always- talk to your doctor.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I LOVE that I can offer Nutrafol to clients, I think its fantastic, I've seen it work for many people and while its not a one size fits all (and obviously not a replacement for medication or doctors care)- I believe it can support healthy hair growing conditions. I always say- it doesnt make hair grow, it addresses why its not growing or why its thinning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I believe part of my job as a stylist is to offer solutions to my clients not only with services but with access to tools, products and all of my favorite things youll definitely have to hear about in my chair anyways because you all know, when I like something I tell literally everyone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DM me if you have any questions, send this post to a friend or save it for yourself to reference later.

Second blonding >> first blonding >> before with red color

We said a little prayer to the hair gods and they granted us blonde again. As a stylist I will always under promise especially if I don’t know what’s truly in your hair or have never lightened you before.

With all of my services I do treatments as needed, today we did and a little in her gloss.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The whole enchilada of lived-in color.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I believe in making things as easy as possible for clients, I don't expect them to know the specific techniques needed to achieve their look. This is why I only have two options here, partial or full. These are determined by your amount of hair, time since your last appointment, where we're starting and where we're going- not where we put it on your head.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I believe in soft roots, natural looking color that grows out seamlessly.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What's included in lived-in lightening: all foiling or balayaging, periodic lowlighting, root shadowing, glossing, tip outs and wet balayage.
The more techniques we do, product we use, or time we spend- we book a full.
Less time, product or techniques? we book a partial.
