We are thrilled to introduce our September speaker Brisa Lauren!
Born and raised in San Diego, Brisa’s background is representative of San Diego’s border town diversity, growing up with a Black Father and a Latina Mother. She completed an AA Degree in Black Studies and Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Point Loma Nazarene University.
Being exposed to social injustices in college, a passion for community advocacy and human rights developed. Since 2012, she has worked as a Community Organizer, Civic Engagement Manager, pushing progressive legislation and orchestrating field programs for voter education, and lastly, founded and was the first Director for the first Black Worker Center in San Diego fighting for an equatable economic.
Separately from her career in Social Justice, she is the lead singer of San Diego’s award-winning band The Lyrical Groove and is now owning her artistry as a solo Singer and Songwriter with the debut of her first project titled “In her Stillness...” a project born out of vulnerability and self-care. Brisa Lauren is a true visionary, from her raw lyricism, to her strategic rollout, to the intention behind everything she does and everyone she works with. Her visuals not only highlight local and Black & Brown creatives, but she is strategic in wearing local and Black owned brands in her visuals to continue to build Black wealth and entrepreneurship.
Now, she is preparing to open a cultural hub “320, Express Your Rhythm” where performing arts advocacy purposely collide to cultivate a socially aware community, with curated events to center, engage and ignite the people, all while creating a safe space for all communities to exhale. 320 creates intentional environments for creative expression to spark political consciousness, while making space for community connection to collective solidarity.
Lastly, she is the Mother of two sons who have kept her grounded during uncertainty and continue to inspire her innovation and responsibility for the world she leaves them. Her music is available on all music platforms and if you would like to learn more about who she is or connect with her in any way you can.

What’s current? That new release at the top of the charts. Breaking news. The latest and greatest.
The crackling buzz of an electric current coursing through power lines to light up a neon sign.
The flow of a river always moving downstream. The constant push and pull of the ocean’s tide.
What new ideas and fresh executions are surging inside you? Sometimes you have to grab hold of your creativity like a live wire to spark something shockingly unexpected. While other times, you just need to go with the flow and see where it takes you. -HQ
What a talk embedded with strength, questioning and discovery last month. Thank you Galina for sharing the long and non linear journey of finding your purpose. It left us inspired to keep delving into our own experiences even when the road isn’t clear. Your dedication to keeping space for women going through these challenging times is so beautiful and important.
