Binge eating can pull you out of your life. Period.
Nights that could be filled with friendship, laughter or even a good book, are instead filled with an insatiable obsession with food. I know because I have been there. It’s lonely, scary, and actually pretty uncomfortable.

Suffering in this way is like being on the brink of losing oneself to food. Of losing your life to food.

You know, it’s never too late. You are never too far gone. I know this because I have helped women and myself rediscover their ability to connect with themselves and re find their life.

Like my post says, you won’t find it in a diet. Or “doing it right”. Life in it’s purest form is messy, hard, and also beyond beautiful. I find immense joy in helping women find their way back to their messy but beautiful life.

If any part of this feels like your story, I’d love to talk.I’m holding space for real conversations to help shape a course that heals.

This! Comes from Daring to Lead by Brene Brown.Thank you

It's exactly what I had in my stories last week about not making any decisions from anxiety. A big part and piece of changing behaviors is knowing your values, as Brene shares here.

So say I'm feeling anxious and I want to do something to "fix" it. Or say you are feeling some emotion and you want to numb it out through a binge. If we took this example here, and say I value courage, I would LIVE INTO my courage, by choosing the to feel the discomfort of the moment. Or say you value respect, so you choose to respect your body rather than numb it, and you choose to LIVE INTO the respect by plating some food and sitting down to enjoy it.

Neither of these things are easy, but Brene shares that the hard or the discomfort usually lasts 8 seconds. Try it out, and let me know what happens!

And this is what I do, how I help ppl in my work. I help people discover their values and what gets in the way of them acting in accordance with them. I love this work.

Annd I'm currently holding conversations with anyone interested- a conversation where you can help me build something that heals. I'm creating a course that will dive into topics like this, with the intention to help those struggling with food, to find paths back to themselves and freedom from the struggle. If you are open to this DM me "conversation", or you can learn more and set up conversation in the link in my bio.

Ok. So in August we got this beautiful game, pulled it out of the box, kinda read the instructions, and somehow we all collectively decided it seemed too hard, so instead of being enjoyed it started collecting dust on our shelf.

For months it sat there. I even thought, oh we can use this a gift for a friends bday because we clearly aren't using it. When I thought about playing it, my thought was immediately "hell no". I like playing games but I honestly I felt intimidated.

Fast forward to this week where my son enthusiastically pulls the game out, set it up, and starts to tell me he now knows how to play and it's really easy(he'd some others playing at a game night and told himself he could do it too!). I love my child so I played along, though truth be told I wasn't into the idea of trying it out. But he explained it to me and BAM it turns out it's incredibly simple. Like super simple and I thought,
"wow that sounds legit fun".

My son and I laughed and reflected on how strange it was that we never played the game because we all were convinced it was " too hard". I said to him, " ya know that's kinda like life." Sometimes we avoid things until we do them and then realize, they actually aren't all that complicated.

Then of course my mind started churning. That's like this stuff with food. Or our bodies. We can spend days, years, decades avoiding our emotions, escaping ourselves through food. Now I'm definitely not saying that facing yourself is easy(see video on me and my emotions), BUT what I AM saying is that maybe it's not all that complicated. And when we do turn towards ourselves and our emotions we are extending ourselves an offering of increased peace, increased presence, and increased power.

If you are curious about what tools or skills to use to practice turning towards yourself and healing your relationship to food, I'd love to connect with you. Check out my link in the bio to set up a time to connect.

I do yoga almost everyday.

I do yoga to connect with me. Not to change me. But to meet myself exactly where I am. Yoga reminds me that I am a body. I breathe with the movement of each pose and remember that connecting with MY body is connecting to a series of sensations, and nothing more.

I find so much relief in cultivating that connection with myself. Honestly I can note a difference in my life and my relationship to food when I'm forgetting to do my yoga. When I do yoga( I do 10 minutes a day, anything more I'd probably not do it), I feel like I have deeper access to patience, and gentle self acceptance throughout the day. I feel more access to my hunger cues and trust in that what my body is telling me is wise.

I 💛 yoga.

What type of movement do you do that helps you gently back into your body?

Boom.
This one hit me yesterday while I was at a cute flower shop in Albany .

If I'm being honest I was having a harder day, and if I'm being REALLY honest, I'm still not having a great day. It's one of those times where I just want to hide away in my room and do NOTHING. I'll post in my stories about it today cause I have some thoughts.

Anyway- I saw this and it really resonated. Our fears can be SO loud and SO strong that we forget who the hell we are. We forget our wisdom, our truth, and who we are underneath our negative self talk. Every last one of us is strong. I know it may not feel like it(eh-hmm me yesterday) but I do a appreciate a good reminder to not give all of our thoughts so much meaning because underneath it all we are wise, unique, and hella strong.

💛💛💛

P.S. They also had a sticker that said "You are doing better than you think you are". If this statement or the one in this photo resonate for you, drop a line in the comments. I'd love to have a conversation on what these things mean for you!
