🤔 Why might you see a picture of your hair days, weeks, or even months after your appointment? There’s many reasons why your hairstylist might do this.

1. I think the most common reason is they have the intention of posting but life has been busy and is just now getting around to it.

2. They can be trying to make their Instagram look cohesive. There are times where we might want to keep similar colors grouped together so it’s more organized. I know I do this at times! I’ll post blonde hair a few times and then follow that with brown tones.

3. It got lost in the thousands of pictures we have on our phones 😅 and once we look through it we see one that we still want to share even if your color is different now!

What is the real difference between professional color and box color? 🎨​​​​​​​​

You might be curious what exactly makes the color your hairstylist uses different from the color you can get at the drugstore - so I’m gonna break down the major differences between them!​​​​​​​​

😷 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙖 (and other chemicals)​​​​​​​​
Box color almost always contains ammonia while many professional lines are ammonia free or contain significantly less. This is why box color tends to have a lot stronger of an odor. The high levels of ammonia can cause skin irritation and should only be applied in well ventilated areas.​​​​​​​​

Box color is formulated to be a “one size fits all” and does not take the individual’s hair type, history and health into consideration. Box color is usually made very strong to pe*****te even the most resistant and stubborn hair but in a lot of cases is too strong and causes damage.​​​​​​​​

Because box color is super strong, it can actually weaken the hair cuticle. Your hair cuticle is the protective layer over the internal structure of the hair. A weakened hair cuticle will not seal properly after coloring allowing not only the haircolor but important moisture and nutrients to leak from the hair causing frizzy, dull, and damaged hair.​​​​​​​​
