I don’t believe in living a life so centered around technology, because the nervous system.

I really can’t stand what life is supposed to look like these days with the masks and the staring at screens all day long.

It’s a hard no for me.

This overstimulation of the nervous system by constantly being on some sort of electronic device has consequences and if they’re not in psychology journals yet, they will be in the near future.

I’m not against technology or social media, obviously, but what I do believe in is having healthy boundaries around these things.

That being said, I’ll be a little less on social media for the next couple weeks so I can reset my nervous system, heal, rest, and deeply connect with what’s going on inside.

I firmly believe that too much focus on the outside world is a spiritual and mental malady that causes all kinds of problems.

If I’m always needing validation or outside stimulation to feel okay, that’s denial and avoidance.

Getting quiet, slowing down, and tuning in - gotta do it every now and then.

What kind of boundaries do you have around social media? When do you take time for a digital detox?

So stoked on this purse I won at a Mary Kay virtual event! Never would’ve bought this for myself, $100 Michael Kors clutch. I prefer thrift stores but love quality stuff. My fav purse now. 🎉🤩🥳

What’s making you smile today?

5 Easy Ways to Practice Ahimsa (non-violence):

1 be compassionate towards self and others
2 be kind to self and others
3 be slow to anger
4 practice patience
5 be gentle with self and others

Ahimsa is part of the first limbs of yoga. I love how the 8 limbs of yoga starts with kindness.

How do you practice kindness in your day to day? Can you be more gentle with yourself and others in stressful situations?

I’ve never weighed this much before.

Quarantine 15 got me just like Freshman 15 did.

In the past, that would have worried me deeply.

I would’ve started obsessing about my clothes and how I didn’t fit into them.

I’d secretly feel terrible about myself - hating on my rolls and heavier frame.

Negative self talk central.

I’d try to control my diet and exercise regimen as punishment for my failures - or do nothing to change at all.

But through the years I’ve learned some things about how to manage my self esteem in healthy ways.

I’ve learned that my weight doesn’t need to dictate how good or bad I feel about myself.

I’ve learned to embrace how I am, just as I am.

I’ve learned I can take care of my body without obsessing about my looks.

I know how to catch when negative self talk tries to run the show in my mind - and gently shift my thinking.

I learned how to go with the flow of my body’s ups and downs by wearing clothes that fit - even if that means wearing a bigger size for a time.

Most important, I’ve learned how to be kind and gentle with myself as I heal, grow, and transform.

Does this resonate with you? What is something positive you’ve learned about having a healthier self esteem and/or body image?

Although we’re being forced to lose our communities by isolation and mask rules, fears and precautions, one thing is for sure- I’m here with you.

We are in this together.

As much as the ego would like to think life is worth living without a healthy community, it’s not true.

We don’t need to go it alone.

I know I do much better when I feel supported and when I can share my struggles with others.

That’s what community is all about, and it’s a necessity - not a luxury or an afterthought.

How do you feel about this? Do you think we are made to go through life alone in our struggles? Do you think group support is worth the effort?

I hate how religious culture tends to view the body as base, bad, and to be controlled through strict discipline - or otherwise ignored.

People are taught to regard their bodies as sinful and sensuality a sign of evil in religious institutions.

I grew up thinking my thoughts and my beliefs mattered more than my body or my feelings.

In many ways, I still believe this to be true, however I no longer subscribe to the belief that my body should be ignored.

I no longer subscribe to the belief that my senses are sinful.

I no longer subscribe to the idea that I should repress and ignore the needs and desires of my body.

I no longer believe my feelings don’t matter to God. Quite the contrary.

I believe my feelings and what’s in my heart matter to God.

I believe my body matters to God.

I believe the needs and desires of my body matter to God.

How do you feel about this? Do you think your feelings matter to God?

Our bodies, like all of the natural world, are creations of God.

Each of us, a precious testament to the reality of Gods’ magnificence.

Our bodies are awesome, complex, mysterious, and incredible.

If you can look out at the natural world and appreciate it for all it’s beauty and wonder, you can do that for your very own body.

It’s a must, in order to be in right relationship with your body.

Our bodies were created in the very image of God.

God created man and woman with the blueprint of the highest order - we are sacred, like a temple for God to dwell in.

With this view in mind, what becomes important?

To honor, respect, and love our bodies as creations and temples of God.

Have you ever thought of your body in this way? Do you feel like your body is a special place, a beautiful place, and a sacred space? What stops you from regarding your body with admiration, appreciation, and care?

Contrary to popular belief, yoga is NOT a cure-all. ☝️

Yes, it can help heal thousands of issues, but when it comes to matters of the heart, only a relationship with God will suffice, which trickles down to all relationships, including the one we have with ourself. 🥰

However, being hyper-spiritual won’t make all the problems magically disappear either. 😖

Healthy nutrition alone is not a cure-all either. It can help, yes, but it’s not everything. 😉

It all must be taken as a whole, and combined - for lasting change to occur. Holistic health. Because it’s all connected. ♾

Emotional health. Physical health. Mental health. Spiritual health. They all matter. 😍

They all deserve a seat at the table. 🥘

How do you feel about this? Do you think holistic health matters?
