Traveling by Amtrak from Salt Lake City to Chicago for 30+ hours...not sure what I was thinking.

But I have to say, the views were Breath-taking. From tunnels to mountains to Frozen lakes, it was amazing. The Observation deck is the perfect spot for viewing because it has floor-to-ceiling Windows.

One thing I enjoyed was being physically present at various cities like Denver, Colorado; Creston and Mt Pleasant both in Iowa; the state of Nebraska, and of course Chicago. There were multiple stops where we could alight and get a feel for the town/city. At one point, we had an hour to go into town and back to continue our voyage.

I was mostly disappointed by the condition of the train, it was pretty worn.
Will I do it again? Probably not, until the train is updated.

It was a gorgeous day after a very long winter and all I wanted was to be outdoors. So, I took the kids to Oquirrh Lake, in South Jordan, Utah.

It is a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l scenery. The lake is a 67-acre man-made lake in the Daybreak community. Watercraft like boating, canoeing and kayaking is free AND limited to residents only, which is understandable but makes me so jealous.

The lake is stocked with certain types of fish so fishing is allowed, but a fishing permit is required.

Swimming is not allowed, so keep that in mind if you plan to visit. But for swimmers, there is an annual Daybreak Triathlon held right here…sounds like fun to me!

My kids definitely had fun running around and taking pictures, and I loved every moment I spent there. I would consider buying a house in the Daybreak community.
