Appeals court: Michigan's no-fault overhaul does not apply to previous crash survivors

The Michigan Court of Appeals published their opinion affirming that the 2019 Auto No Fault law changes or at least certain portions of it cannot be retroactively applied to those injured prior to the law’s passing.
There is still much interpretation to be done and the fight is certainly not over but finally there is a glimmer of light for survivors, their families and the providers that serve them.

Appeals court: Michigan's no-fault overhaul does not apply to previous crash survivors The ruling from the Court of Appeals in the high-profile no-fault car insurance law case is likely to be appealed to the Michigan Supreme Court.

Happy Fifteen WTL! When WTL started we had no idea what fifteen years later would look like, we just knew there had to be a better way of helping people identify and work towards their goals. A vision created to serve a single community has blossomed into a mission that seeks to improve outcomes and the recovery experience for ALL. There are reminders every day that prove when we work alongside those we serve and each other with a commitment to recovery, anything is possible. We are proud to have served our community for fifteen years and grateful for every client or team member that has been part of the WTL mission.

This week is brain awareness week, and we would like to acknowledge those who have learned so much about the brain and how to help treat those who have been affected by traumatic brain injuries.

Each year an estimated 2.5 million Americans sustain a Traumatic Brain Injury. The month of March is when we take a moment to share awareness of the people who have been affected by brain injuries. This is a foundational therapy we focus on, helping people affected to gain back some if not all of the functions that have been disrupted by this type of injury. 👀🤗❤️

Whats New at WTL?

Starting Walk The Line on the heels of feeling defeated and being discharged from my previous physical therapy program fueled the fire and passion to make WTL a place of power. The initial design of Walk The Line reflected the type of stimulus and environment that helps me to feel successful and accomplish my goals. Some of our clients identify with this as well -- they find success in the bustle on the floor, the banter amongst clients and staff, the bright and energetic environment.

Over the years as Walk The Line has become much more than spinal cord injury recovery, the needs of our clients and the environment that promotes success for them has expanded. When faced with the opportunity to serve a broader base of individuals on their road to recovery we found ourselves asking the question, "Are we doing our best to serve ALL individuals that could benefit from Walk The Line?" The answer was no. We have evolved in our ability to customize each program for the individual based on their current abilities, desired abilities and goals but when it came to aspects such as duration and environment, we had fallen short.

Enter Walk The Line Blue, a 1000-square foot expansion designed specifically to provide a space that provides results based feedback, with a less distracted color palette that promotes concentration and focus. The Blue gym provides an environment where individuals receive feedback during activities from the external cues or visual cues on the floor and around the space. It also features a private treatment room as well as a gaming room where clients can engage in motion sensor virtual reality gaming via Xbox Kinect.

We have also started offering 90-minute sessions for those individuals that feel more successful with a shorter session time. Since the implementation of WTL Blue, we have found that some individuals benefit from participating only in the Blue program or only in the Red program, while some benefit from a mixture of both programs. All clients are evaluated by their Physical Therapist and a custom plan is created that takes into account the environment and duration that best suits each client's goals and needs.
