Cooking up mite treatment towels. Verroa Mites are the biggest threat to honey bee populations. Raising the levels of Oxalic Acid in the hive kills mites and improves the health of your hive. Oxalic acid is a naturally@occurring compound found in leafy plants like rhubarb. It is commonly used as a wood bleach.

I found an insane amount of arnica this weekend! It was everywhere.

Swarm catching wasn’t on my agenda for tonight, but the ladies do what they want, when they want.

This is what the fiddle heads looked like two weeks ago. This weekend I could barely find any that weren’t too tall. I did though, and I ate them all! Put them on a pizza and then in some veggie tacos.

Did a little foraging this weekend. The fiddleheads are a week or two out. Found a handful of tiny morels. Snagged a decent bunch of stinging nettle.

Making a hydrating skin salve tonight. Beeswax, Shea butter, oil infused with plantain, yarrow, arnica and St John’s Wort. Three flavors: sweet orange, rosemary, and sandalwood.
