As a teenager I literally got tired of people telling me to drink more water, “you need PROACTIV, “have you tried PROACTIV?”, “it’s just teenage acne” and “it’s going away after you turn 18”. By my 19th birthday my acne became cystic and unbarable and I was working at Sephora where makeup was a job requirement I was happy to be there, stressed because I did not have enough time to let my skin heal because I was always out at work and felt like I NEEDED make up at that time, overworked, insecure and sad because I knew it was going to make my face worse eventually.

All that made me very insecure because in fact my skin got worse as an adult yet some were saying “you just got adult hormonal acne” that was stressful and stress causes acne so I went through this cycle where I felt like nothing would work.

My grandmother Ida Mae introduced me to black soap as a teen I lacked consistency and patience so I didn’t reap the benefits before but now I KNOW!

Back then I didn’t know it would later be a staple in my skincare routine as of today! Black soap get a bad reputation as for as it being overly drying creating skin sensitivity but with the proper tweak in how you’re using it could benefit you in more than one way.

Working at Sephora helped me gain experience and knowledge which allowed me to further help guest but not only them myself as well. Gaining more insight about certain ingredients and acids that are suitable for the skin not only that layers of the skin and which acid target each layer in depth. Cultivating a skin care routine that will eventually treat and or heal hyperpigmentation, cystic and other forms of acne.

Which is why when educating consumers about my products I encourage them to do a patch test and if you feel or see any irritation do not proceed however if you’re using a product keep it in rotation.

What do I mean by keeping it in rotation?
Is simply suggesting you to use a product for 90days just in case your skin is the type to be immune to the product and most products aren’t for everyday use which it is great to read the directions.

I changed the way I looked at my skin, I changed my mindset, my eating habits, found my blood type because I indeed was eating foods that triggered my inflammation, drinking, stress and lack of sleep.

Also found natural ways of healing my skin I learned about essential oils and it was confirmed I need to learn more about them. Started mixing my own oils in the 8th grade because for the life of me I couldn’t understand how my bus stop only 5mins away but I’m back ashy before I get on the bus in the winter. lol. I started making my own oils with essential oils in 2016 with my homemade mask because I always watched my granny Ida Mae use an egg for a face mask but actually bottling up anything in 2019 ❤️ I’m so happy I did long story short the times back in the day when I showed the most confidence I wasn’t I looked back at most of my pictures and noticed I held myself back due to insecurities. Now that I am not her anymore I give her grace and I love that it’s just a chapter in who I am becoming.

Lastly, I learned to make the oils true and learned about the essential oils and doing everything I stated above but until I learned herbs and to work with them better Is how managed it and my health.
