Empathy and the Callousness

In a world of hearts, both light and dark,
Lies the contrast of empathy and callousness stark.
Where one can heal with compassion's touch,
The other, like ice, can hurt so much.

Empathy, a beacon of warmth and grace,
Embracing pain, understanding every trace.
It dives into depths unseen and unknown,
To mend the wounds, where others may disown.

Through tender eyes, it sees the tears,
In every story, in every one it hears.
A gentle hand extended, ready to hold,
To carry the burdens of the timid and bold.

But amidst the empathy's tender caress,
Callousness emerges, the antithesis, no less.
A hardened heart, unmoved and cold,
Ignoring pleas, denying stories untold.

Callousness weaves a shadowy veil,
Indifferent to sorrow, deaf to every tale.
It turns its back on the cries of pain,
Leaving wounds unattended, souls in disdain.

But why, oh callousness, do you not see?
The power of empathy and its ability to free.
Through kindness and care, the world blooms,
Revealing unity's beauty and love's bright rooms.

For in empathy lies the power to understand,
To walk hand-in-hand, offering compassion's hand.
To uplift and restore, to heal and forgive,
And create a world where hearts truly live.

So let us embrace the empathy we possess,
And shatter callousness with tenderness.
In each interaction, let love be our guide,
And empathy's flame forever reside.

For in empathy's embrace, we find our worth,
A testament to humanity's potential and rebirth.
Let empathy be the melody we sing,
And callousness fade into a faint whispering.
