A few faves of my grandmother, Cynthia Starr! I generally refer to her as Granny, and if you’ve been in my chair it’s pretty likely I’ve mentioned her. She was an incredibly badass woman who truly shaped the parts of myself that I appreciate most.
She was an oil painter, rose gardener, sober girl, OG woo-woo, career woman who introduced me to basically everything awesome I’d need to know.

I can’t say International Women’s Day resonated with me much prior to it coinciding with her passing in 2018. Then, is when I fully began to reflect on her resilience, and the entirety of what she was able to accomplish during her lifetime and as a woman.

I for one am just so very grateful I get to surround myself with these types of women and people on the daily. In real life, and in our lil online hair community 💓.

And lastly, extra shoutout to all my hot grannies that be coming to see me! Your presence and conversation is a completely different kind of special.

I snuck off with my childhood friends to turn 40 in the desert last week. It was the perfect trip to reset and rest. Coming back to the city (and reality) is tough but, thankfully my days are spent with the most kind, supportive and incredible people. I am beyond blessed and grateful for all of you!

❤️‍🔥 IT’S FINALLY HAPPENED ❤️‍🔥

Straight razor ONLY for the making of this haircut. What a wild ride that was! I’m feeling a big sense of accomplishment having FINALLY giving it a full send. I’d become soooo comfortable in my feather- razor-ways and it was time to commit. Sometimes goals can take years, decades even 😆. As salty as I am about social media, it has connected me with the most amazing fellow cutting - obsessed stylists near and far.

Kind and talented women making space for sharing these skills, pumping others up and showing what it means to have community in the industry. Not sure if I’d been confident or motivated or inspired enough had it not been for them. You know who you are ✨💖⚡️

Also, as stylists we have to stay humble enough to seek the education, find the help and pass it along. That’s just my lil opinion.

Most importantly thank you for always being down and coming with all the good visions.

Taking my final client in this space felt surreal. Being in a salon suite is special, intimate and unlike any facet of the industry I’ve done before. The years spent in here were impactful, enlightening and full of connections and conversations I’ll never forget. I was able to grow, grieve and heal alongside many of you doing the same. I could never express the gratitude in words, so instead I will show you my appreciation the best way I know how- through my work.

Over the course of these next few weeks I’ll be settling in at my new salon home while putting into practice some things I’ve been working on. I am so honored to be welcomed with open arms by the women at Blended. Ibia, the owner and colorist extraordinaire worked nonstop since I met her as an apprentice to create this space, and I couldn’t be more proud.

Clients, mentors & friends- you are everything! There’s no way I could’ve made this pivot in my career without each and every one of you ❤️‍🔥

I will never get over how insanely cool is it to make an immediate bestie, casually cut most if not all their hair off, and then part ways as if nothing happened.
