My top 5 supplements to keep your thyroid healthy and functioning. 🧬

1️⃣ Selenium — needed to convert T4 into the active T3 your cells actually use. It also supports the antioxidant enzymes that protect thyroid tissue.

2️⃣ Zinc — plays a role in both hormone production and T4-to-T3 conversion. Low zinc shows up often in women with sluggish thyroid symptoms.

3️⃣ Vitamin D — low levels are consistently linked to autoimmune thyroid conditions like Hashimoto's, and most women are more deficient than they realize.

4️⃣ Iron (specifically ferritin) — your thyroid needs adequate iron stores to produce hormone in the first place. Low ferritin can mimic thyroid symptoms even when your thyroid labs look fine.

5️⃣ Magnesium — supports the stress response that so often disrupts T4-to-T3 conversion, and most women are short on it to begin with.

A quick note: I'm not including iodine on this list on purpose. It's essential for thyroid hormone production, but supplementing it without knowing your levels can actually worsen autoimmune thyroid conditions. That one's worth testing for, not guessing on.

As always, the right dose and combination depends on your labs, not a generic stack. Comment THYROID and I'll send you my free Normal vs. Optimal Thyroid Hormone guide. 🤍

Thyroid labs, decoded. Part 1: the labs your doctor usually orders, and what each one is actually telling you. 🧬

Most women have seen these three letters on a lab report and never had them explained.

TSH isn't a thyroid hormone. It's a message from your brain asking your thyroid to make more. T4 is the storage form your thyroid mostly makes. T3 is the active form that tells your cells to burn energy and run your metabolism, and most of it is converted from T4 outside the thyroid.

Here's the catch: TSH can look "normal" while what your cells are actually receiving is a different story. That's why these three are only the starting point.

Part 2 drops tomorrow: the thyroid labs that rarely get ordered and often explain the most. Follow along so you don't miss it. 🤍

As an NP, here's what a gut panel can reveal when someone's stuck on the same 10-15 pounds no matter what they try. 🧬

It's rarely about willpower. Here's what's often actually going on underneath:

Underlying inflammation — chronic low-grade gut inflammation keeps your body in a defensive, protective state. When your immune system is busy managing inflammation, fat loss becomes a lower priority for your body, no matter how consistent you are.

Poor fat or protein absorption — if your gut isn't properly breaking down what you eat, your body isn't actually getting the nutrients it needs, even if your intake looks perfect on paper. This can affect muscle maintenance, hunger regulation, and energy — all of which impact the scale.

Bacterial imbalance — certain patterns of gut bacteria are linked to how efficiently your body processes food and regulates metabolism, completely separate from calories in vs. calories out.

This is exactly why two people can eat the same way and get completely different results. The gut is often the missing piece nobody's looked at.

If this sounds like your story, comment GUT and I'll reach out personally. 🤍

Welcome to "I can't lose weight no matter what diet I'm on, how many workouts I do, and my doctor says my bloodwork looks fine" — a series where I show you how to figure out what's actually going on. 🧬

Episode 1: the symptoms of an underactive thyroid — and stalled weight loss is only one of them.

So many women focus on the scale not moving and miss everything else their body's been telling them: fatigue that sleep doesn't fix, feeling cold when everyone else is fine, hair thinning (especially the outer third of your eyebrows), dry skin, constipation, brain fog, and low mood.

Weight resistance is usually just the symptom that finally gets someone to ask questions. If you've been quietly dealing with several of these at once, your thyroid deserves a closer look.

If more than one of these sounds like you, comment THYROID and I'll reach out personally. 🤍

Stay tuned for Episode 2 — why "normal" labs don't always mean your thyroid is fine. 👀

I love a glass of w**e with dinner, but I value how I feel the next morning, so I keep it to weekends.

I want to lose weight fast, but I value my metabolism, so I focus on labs, not just calories.

I want real results and my life back, so I build a plan around my actual hormones, not restriction.

There’s so much conflicting advice out there, so I ask “what does MY body actually need” and test instead of guess.

Hi I’m Trisha, and Functional Medicine NP and this is how I help women get there too. 🤍

3 root causes behind brain fog that have nothing to do with "just being tired."

Blood sugar swings — your brain runs almost entirely on glucose. When it spikes and crashes, your focus crashes right along with it.

Gut inflammation — most of your neurotransmitters are made in your gut. An inflamed gut doesn't stay contained to your gut.

Thyroid dysfunction — when thyroid function slows down, so does your brain's processing speed.

Brain fog isn't a personality trait or a "just get more sleep" problem. It's your body telling you something specific — you just need the right labs to hear it.

DM the word FOG and I'll send you the exact labs I run to find out which one (or which combination) is yours. 👇

If you ask your provider for these 3 labs, you’ll finally understand why the scale hasn’t moved. 🧬

As an NP, these are the labs I see missing over and over again in women who’ve “tried everything”:

1️⃣ A full thyroid panel — not just TSH, but Free T4, Free T3, and antibodies

2️⃣ Fasting insulin — often elevated for years before it ever shows up on glucose alone

3️⃣ A full hormone panel that looks at how your body is metabolizing estrogen, not just how much you have

Most standard bloodwork checks maybe 5 things. None of these three are usually on that list — and any one of them can be the missing piece behind stubborn weight, fatigue, or cravings that won’t quit.

You don’t have to guess what to ask for. Comment OPTIMAL and I’ll send you my free lab guide — what to request, and what the results actually mean. 🤍

As an NP, here’s why “eat less, move more” doesn’t work for so many women. 👀

It sounds simple. Calories in, calories out. And for some people, it genuinely is. But for a huge number of women doing exactly that and still not losing weight, it’s not a mystery — it’s biology nobody’s ever explained to them.

Chronic undereating doesn’t speed up fat loss. It slows your metabolism down, because your body adapts to survive on less instead of releasing weight faster.

Elevated cortisol — from stress, including the stress of restricting food — keeps your body in fat-storage mode, especially around the belly, no matter how clean you’re eating.

Insulin resistance can sit there for years before it ever shows up on standard bloodwork, quietly making it harder for your body to access stored fat for fuel.

And hormonal shifts in thyroid, estrogen, and progesterone change how and where your body holds onto weight, especially with age. None of that responds to eating less.

This isn’t about trying harder. It’s about understanding what your body actually needs.

As an NP, this is exactly what I help women figure out. Comment READY if you have truly decided to stop feeling stuck, and want to take that first step to making change happen. 🤍

I don’t just help women lose weight. 🤍

I help women sleep 7-8 hours a night without waking up.

I help women figure out why they feel so “on edge.”

I help women find the WHY behind all of their symptoms.

I help women finally zip up that pair of jeans that’s been sitting in the closet for three years.

I help women feel like themselves… but better.

This is the part that gets lost when people think weight loss is just about a number on the scale. It’s never just about the weight. It’s about waking up rested, feeling calm in your own skin, and finally understanding your body instead of fighting it.

As an NP, this is the work I do every day — root cause first, so everything else falls into place after.

If this is what you’ve been looking for, comment READY and I’ll reach out personally. 🧬
