Being a cowgirl has never just been about horses, boots or where you come from. It’s an attitude.
It’s being capable. Working hard. Standing your ground. Taking care of others. Getting back up when life knocks you down. Having enough confidence to do things your own way and enough humility to keep learning.
Some women find that spirit horseback. Some find it raising kids, building businesses, working the land, serving their communities or simply handling whatever life puts in front of them.
Cowgirl is a way of carrying yourself through this world.
Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them. 🤎

That’s one of the things I appreciate most about having a little space. You don’t need some huge property. Sometimes just a little extra room gives your family the freedom to build things, try things, get dirty, make memories and let kids be kids.

With the Plaskett Fire still burning and fall ahead of us, wildfire preparedness is especially important right now. This time of year, our hills and pastures are at their driest, and until we get meaningful rain, fire season is far from over.
I recently had the opportunity to contribute to an article for slohorsenews about preparing your property, your animals, and yourself for wildfire. From evacuation plans and trailer readiness to defensible space and water access, there are things we can do now that could make a huge difference when every minute counts.

I had a potential buyer ask how far the Templeton lot at 799 Forest Ave was from the park, so of course I timed it! Real time was just 1 minute & 15 seconds. And it makes for an even more pleasant walk, with a sidewalk safely connecting you there.

Maybe the best way to honor a life well lived is to carry a little of it into our own.
There are very few people in this world who are almost universally loved, respected and adored. Dolly was one of them. And for good reason.
In a world that can feel increasingly divided, she somehow never seemed to be a polarizing figure. She simply loved people. All kinds of people. She led with kindness, generosity, humor and a whole lot of heart.
She knew who she was, where she came from and what she believed in. She was unapologetically herself while still making room for everyone else to be themselves too.
For all of her talent and success, maybe her greatest legacy is simply the kind of human she chose to be. She gave generously, loved deeply, stayed humble, made people laugh and used what she had to make life a little better for others.
What an incredible way to live a life.
So maybe we can all channel a little Dolly into our everyday lives. Love big. Work hard. Give when you can. Stay true to your roots. Be kind to people.
