So I attempted the #soapchallengeclub Pull-through/Pour-through technique for this month but was not happy with any of my designs. The closest was the third #soap pictured, but none we're good enough to submit, IMO. Oh well! I still had a great time trying and will definitely continue to experiment with this technique. I got some cool designs for sure. I also started videos of the making and cutting process. Prepping!!! 🤩😍

The time has come for the December Soap Challenge Club (again, just eeking in ahead of the deadline!!)!! This month the technique was In-The-Pot-Swirl! Sounds deceptively simple! This technique can provide SO many beautiful designs by tweaking slightly any number of elements. Trust me, the soaps that have already been posted are AMAZING!!

My inspiration was from one of the example videos of Fraeulein Winter's Cosmic Wave. The fragrance I chose is called Twisted Peppermint, a Bath and Body Works duplicate. It starts out peppermint, but has some undertones of vanilla, balsam and musk which give it a deeper complexity than your plain peppermint fragrances. Because of this depth, I thought I would try creating a double sided soap. One side with traditional peppermint colors, white, green and red. For the other side I chose brown, green and red.

After my soap reached emulsion and my colorants we're mixed in, I poured the brown, green, and red into an empty long-spouted measuring cup in alternating segments starting with the brown base. Once all of the soap was layered into the cup, I poured it into the mold with a slight shimmy to create the wavey swirls and alternated edges to create the wave effect until all of the layered soap was in my log mold. I then followed the same procedure for the white, green, and red swirl. In total, I poured my soap batter twice into the log mold.

I'm very pleased with the top as it turned out absolutely perfect! The chocolate side had a little trouble because the brown thickened on a different pace than the green and red!! I still think it turned out cool because of the different consistencies it gave the swirls! I'll definitely use this technique more in future as it was so much fun to play with!!

Here's my November Thin Lines entry in the advanced category. I was going for the wood grain look and I think I came pretty close! It's scented with Birchwood Oud from Bramble Berry. I used a shoebox lined with packing tape, which I meant to also line with freezer paper..... Anyway, let's just say I got the soap out of the box, but the box is a box no more! LOL! I also attempted the regular category, but it thickened up too quick and I haven't been able to squeeze in another regular attempt.

I love these challenges because of the amazing soaping community and opportunity to learn new techniques! This will definitely not be the last time I use this technique!!
