Okay, I need to brag on my kid for a minute

One of my favorite parts of Lake Effect isn't something I ordered, hired out, or found online.

Rez painted the artwork. And Z painted one too 💙

At 15 years old, this kid took the vision I had in my head for the shop and somehow just... got it. All of it.

I knew he was talented, obviously. I'm his mom.
But seeing his artwork hanging
throughout a business I worked so hard to create is something completely different.

Someday he'll be grown, Lake Effect will have changed a hundred times, and I'll still have these paintings from the summer my 15-year-old helped make this place feel so freaking cool 😎

And because apparently being ridiculously talented isn’t enough, he’s also becoming a little entrepreneur. He’s selling his work and taking custom commissions, so if you have an idea you’d love turned into an original piece, Rez is officially your guy.

So yep. I'm bragging.

📞 Okay, I think it’s time we address the slightly cringey AI elephant in the shop. 😂

Yep. Ashley is AI.

If you call Lake Effect, you may meet Ashley—our AI assistant. She answers our phones 24/7, books appointments, answers basic questions, and takes an average of 20+ calls a day (and night 😅).

That’s 20 times we don’t have to stop what we’re doing, put down the clippers, or step away from the client in our chair.

Is talking to AI a little weird at first? Maybe. But giving the person sitting in our chair our undivided attention, while still making sure your call gets answered? That’s a vibe we can get behind.

And don’t worry—Ashley isn’t running the whole show. I check her call log and messages every night, so if there’s something she couldn’t help you with, a real-life human will get back to you. You can also text us anytime at 231-360-4015

So yes, Ashley is AI. Yes, we named her. And yes, she’s just part of our team. 🤣📞💈🌊

Today was filled with familiar faces, new clients, laughter, and so much support from this community. We can’t thank everyone enough for making our first day as Lake Effect Barber Co. so memorable.

We know this is just the beginning, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who’s already been a part of it.

…And to Zara and Kendra —thank you for absolutely crushing Day 1. Thank you for bringing the laughs, all the vibes and just being complete badasses behind the chair. I couldn’t imagine a better team for Lake Effect ❤️
