Meet Missi ✨
The next person in our Outside The Lines Series!
One of our favorite concepts from Missi: Living on the 80/20 rule. Meaning 80% courage, 20% terrified. And using fear as her co-pilot.
Her courage isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about moving through uncertainty with an open heart and choosing to define beauty and life on her own terms.
Watch her powerful video on the blog to hear how she transformed hardship into calm strength ❤️🙌🏼

Prime Day isn’t just a shopping event. It’s a masterclass in conditioning.
Countdown timers. Lightning deals. “Only 3 left.” Prices that quietly climb before they’re “discounted.”
Every detail is engineered to create urgency, not because you suddenly need something, but because your nervous system begins to believe you do.
When we’re rushed, we don’t choose.
We react.
The dopamine of adding to cart.
The relief of checking out.
The brief high when the package arrives.
And then… it fades.
That cycle isn’t a personal failure.
It’s a business model.
But while we’re trained to believe more things will make life feel fuller, there’s another story happening at the same time.
This photo is 120 pounds of trash collected by lovely people during our community cleanup with The Find North in Leland last weekend.
Almost every item was something someone once believed they needed.
The thing about throwing something “away” is there is no away.
It simply leaves your field of vision and enters someone else’s.
A shoreline.
A drainage ditch.
A landfill.
A river.
A community.
Consumption always has a destination.
Maybe the invitation isn’t to stop buying altogether.
Maybe it’s to pause long enough to ask:
Is this coming from intention, or urgency?
Can I borrow it?
Repair what I already own?
Make it myself?
Support someone local?
Choose something that was created to last?
Because every purchase is more than a transaction.
It’s a vote for the kind of world we want to participate in 🌏✌🏽

Always love when customers take pics of our products on their trips // Zion National Park ✨
“I took your amazing products to Zion NP! Took a couple pics of me using the lip balm during the hikes. I didn’t get one at the top of angels landing but here is one in front of it and the other one is at the emerald pools.
Loving the deodorant! “ ~ Holly

Some things are worth protecting.
The clarity of a Michigan lake at dawn. The sound a forest makes when no one is talking. The way your shoulders drop the moment you step into an open space.
Valor Skincare was built on that same instinct to ask what's really in the things we reach for, and to choose better. Through 1% for the Planet, a portion of every Valor sale goes back to the land that inspires it.
We're celebrating their first donation to Heart of the Lakes. It's a small percentage of a bigger commitment, and we're honored to be part of it.

“Really surprised how much I like it, it’s 95 degrees here today in Florida, and I didn’t smell stinky!”
