Long hair with layers

A client coming in with dull, faded gold hair—the kind that’s lost its shine and looks a bit brassy or flat. The mids and ends may feel dry, slightly uneven in tone, and lacking dimension. At the roots, there’s a noticeable grey regrowth, creating a clear contrast line that breaks the overall look and makes the color feel grown-out and tired.

Now the transformation:

After a color retouch, the grey regrowth is fully blended or covered, restoring a seamless base that matches or complements the existing tone. The gold is refreshed into a richer, more luminous shade—less brassy, more controlled, and glossy.

Then come the highlights, which elevate everything. Fine or strategically placed lighter pieces add brightness around the face and throughout the lengths, creating dimension and movement. Instead of flat gold, the hair now has a mix of tones—soft warm beige with cooler ribbons.

The final result:

I did a lot of all over highlights instead of just on the top, low lights to hide them, did one tone lighter on the color retouch and long layers.
Now the grey hair it’s gonna be more blended with this highlights color and it’s gonna have less maintenance.
