👂🌊 Swimmer’s Ear (Otitis Externa) 🌊👂

Having ear pain after swimming, showers, sweating, or using earbuds? You may have otitis externa, also known as swimmer’s ear.

Common symptoms can include:
▫️ Ear pain or tenderness
▫️ Itching in the ear canal
▫️ Redness or swelling
▫️ Drainage/debris
▫️ Muffled hearing

This can happen when moisture gets trapped in the ear, allowing bacteria or fungus to grow. Frequent swimming, earbuds, hearing aids, or even aggressive cleaning with Q-tips can increase your risk.

Treatment may include:
✅ Prescription ear drops
✅ Keeping the ear and equiptment dry
✅ Avoiding irritation to the ear canal

🚨 Seek medical care sooner if you have severe pain, fever, spreading redness, or worsening swelling.

If you think you may have swimmer’s ear, we’re here to help with convenient virtual care. 📱

Peptide therapy is one of the newest wellness tools being explored for areas like healthy aging, recovery, metabolism, energy, skin support, and body composition. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules/messengers in the body, helping support certain natural processes already occurring within us. ✨

Depending on the type of peptide, they may be used to support:
• Weight management & metabolism
• Muscle recovery & exercise performance
• Skin, hair & collagen support
• Energy & wellness support
• Sleep & recovery
• Healthy aging goals

Examples of commonly discussed peptides include:
• GLP-1 medications for weight management
• Sermorelin and Tesamorelin for growth hormone signaling support
• “Glow Peptide” for skin & tissue support
• NAD+ (a coenzyme* or helper molecule) often given in conjunction, for healthy aging, energy, metabolism

Every patient is different, and peptide therapy is not one-size-fits-all. A medical evaluation is important to determine whether a treatment plan is appropriate for your individual goals and health history.

🦠 Ringworm: What Is It & How Do You Get It?

Despite the name, it is NOT caused by a worm — it’s actually a contagious fungal skin infection. It usually appears as a round, red, itchy rash that may have a clearer center and raised edges that might appear scaly.

You can catch it from:

✔️ Skin-to-skin contact with someone infected
✔️ Pets (especially cats and dogs)
✔️ Shared towels, clothing, brushes, hats, gym equipment, or bedding
✔️ Warm, sweaty environments

Ways to help prevent it:
✨ Wash hands regularly
✨ Don’t share personal items
✨ Shower after workouts
✨ Keep skin clean and dry
✨ Check pets for patches of hair loss or irritated skin

It is very treatable with topical antifungal medications. If you notice a rash that’s spreading, itchy, or ring-shaped, it’s time to get evaluated.

Bronchitis is one of the most common complaints in the telehealth setting and one of the most common causes of cough. It refers to inflammation of the bronchial tubes that lead to the lungs. It’s often caused by a virus and typically improves with supportive care (not always antibiotics 👀).

💡 Common symptoms:
• Persistent cough (with or without mucus)
• Chest discomfort/tightness
• Wheezing
• Fatigue
• Mild fever or chills

💊 What helps:
• Rest + hydration
• Humidified air
• Prescriptive medication therapies like steroids, inhalers or good cough medicines

If left untreated, bronchitis can lead to more serious bacterial infections like pneumonias.

Call us today at Tropical Telmedicine: 941-376-8630 for cough treatment. We are here to help patients from their homes anywhere in the state.

Abnormal skin lesions can include new moles, spots that change in size, shape, or color, or anything that bleeds, itches, or doesn’t heal. A helpful rule is the ABCs of melanoma:

A – Asymmetry
B – Border irregularity
C – Color changes
D – Diameter larger than a pencil eraser
E – Evolving over time

If you notice any of these signs, don’t wait—early evaluation matters.

Always wear a hat with a wide brim, and SPF 50+ (with zinc as a physical barrier) in the Florida sun ☀️.

Prevention saves lives!!
