About 8 months ago, I was at dinner with some new friends here in Oklahoma when someone asked me a question—
“You’ve been behind the chair for over 16 years… why don’t you have your own salon?”
It stuck with me.
I had thought about it before, but I was happy, busy, and comfortable in what I had built. When 2024 came along, everything shifted. Kevin and I made the move from Boston to Oklahoma City, and I made the decision to start over—which, to be honest, was terrifying.
Starting over at this stage in my career wasn’t something I took lightly. It’s been a challenging start in a lot of ways… so I figured, why not make it even more challenging and start a business 🤷🏽♂️
And that’s where The Newbury comes in.
The Newbury is my nod to Boston—my hometown—and the years I spent building my career there. I wanted to bring a bit of that New England perspective, style, and attitude to Oklahoma City and Edmond. Something refined, intentional, and a little different.
What makes this even more meaningful is the team I’m starting this with—truly incredible talent who have been supportive from day one and have made this entire process that much more exciting. And always, my biggest supporter—Kevin Wilson —who holds my hand and keeps me grounded through it all, along with my family cheering me on from afar.
And I wouldn’t be here without the space that welcomed me when I arrived. Hair and Company .salon has been my home over the past two years, and Brandie .hairandco has been a constant source of support and inspiration.
This has been a leap—but one I’m incredibly proud of.

What an unforgettable day.
Celebrating this birthday surrounded by friends and family filled my heart beyond words. I couldn’t imagine marking this milestone without the people who have shaped me, grounded me, and continue to inspire me.
This past year has been a leap — full of growth, challenge, and transformation — and it feels like the true beginning of my next chapter. Even with miles between us, their love, support, and belief travel with me, fueling every step forward as I move into what’s next.
A huge thank you to my mother and brother for organizing such a meaningful celebration, and my deepest love and gratitude to my brother for the beautiful, touching speech that meant more to me than I can express.
