While the curl chart was introduced to sell you products. The natural hair folks decided this would be an awesome way to learn about their hair.

As a beauty logger turned licensed cosmetologist I have spent the past 10 years teaching tight curl + naturals to see their hair beyond the chart.

Looking at things like lifestyle, density, texture (diameter of the strand) and surface texture to start with. I find that this is instrumental with my in salon clients. When my clients begin to understand these fundamentals things about their hair we can then move on to climate, water quality, hydration level and porosity.

All this unique aspects have nothing to do with whether the bend in your curls is a tight or loose coil, ringlet or wave.
