🚧CONSTRUCTION UPDATE! 🚧

We have a little more information about the Lincolnway construction!

I spoke with the crew leader on the project, who told me they’ll be replacing sewer tiles and installing new water lines from Weston St. to Campbell St. These new water lines will tie into the water lines behind Franklin House. That’s why Lincolnway will need to be closed for a couple of days so the crew can cross over to us.

The latest estimate is a 1–2 day closure of Lincolnway from Weston Street to Campbell Street (🚨you will not be able to access our parking lots from Lincolnway) around September 30–October 1 — weather permitting. This date is not 100% confirmed and may change.

During the closure, you can still get to us by:
Jefferson St. or Chicago St. to Wayne St., head south to our salon parking lot or street parking. Or you can access the alley from Jefferson or Chicago to our back parking lot.

I also confirmed that the Lincolway & Campbell Street roundabout is NOT happening anytime soon! We were told it will likely be sometime in 2027 or even 2028 before work begins on the roundabout.

✨ Manic Panic Color Correction: From Stubborn Stain to Beautiful Blend! ✨

This transformation was definitely a process! (5 1/2 hours to be exact)

My client came in with Manic Panic throughout her hair that she had done at home and wanted to remove as much of the pigment as possible. Before her appointment, I had told her to shampoo with clarifying shampoo at home a few times to help fade the color and also instructed her to follow up with plenty of deep-conditioning treatments, since the process can be very drying to the hair.

Once she arrived, I started with two back-to-back professional color removers. While they lightened the Manic Panic, they did not completely remove the pigment—it was still very visible throughout the hair. I then added highlights to help break up and soften the remaining color.

For the final result, we toned the hair into a more muted, natural brown, while adding bright pink professional-color highlights at her request so she could still enjoy some pink in her hair without continuing to use Manic Panic.

🚨 A little color education from your stylist: Manic Panic may be marketed as semi-permanent, but certain vivid shades can act more like an extreme color stain, making them incredibly difficult—and sometimes impossible—to completely remove from the hair. As a hairstylist, this is one of those products that makes me cringe when I hear a client has used it, especially if they may want to go lighter or change colors later.

If you’re thinking about using a vivid color, please talk to your stylist first! There are professional-quality vivid colors that can give you that fun, bold look while giving your stylist a much better chance of successfully changing your color down the road. 💗

This transformation is a great reminder that color correction can be a process that takes time and can be costly, but we protected the integrity of the hair, worked with what we had, and created a beautiful result that still gave her the pink she wanted.
