The boys never had the privilege of knowing my mom, or Scott’s parents, but they are lucky to have my dad, a grandpa (abuelo) that loves them so much and Aunt Jenny, Scott’s aunt who has been “grandma” to them their whole lives. She has done a great job of loving the boys like Scott’s parents would have done. Thank you both for loving our boys well. This is one of my favorite pictures from this past Christmas. Happy Grandparents Day to all grandparents!

I was living in Tampa, working at a tile store and in college. It was my day off from work, but we had a staff meeting. As I was pulling into the parking lot, the song on the radio was interrupted and the DJ announced that a plane had crashed into the Twin Towers. I sat for a minute listening in disbelief, thinking what a terrrible accident that was. I turned off the car and walked in for my meeting. My coworkers were listening on the radio when I walked in too. Our boss came out, we shut off the radio and started our meeting, you could tell no one was fully in the meeting. By the time we got done with our meeting and turned the radio back on, the second plane had crashed, now they were talking about a terrorist attack! WHAT??? My dad worked in Manhattan, I frantically tried to call him, but of course, I couldn't get a hold of him. Everyone was on the phone calling someone and the lines were just jammed. I hit redial repeatedly all the way home, praying and crying the whole time. Praying for my dad's safety and that of those who were trying to escape this unbelievable and scary situation, those who were helping people get out of this situation. I listened to the radio and the situation just got worse by the minute. I got home ran in the door, turned on the tv and sat on the living room floor, watching in disbelief and crying... still repeatedly hitting redial. After what seemed like an eternity, my phone rang, it was my dad on the other end of the line. He was safe. There was nothing currently going on in the part of Manhattan he was in, but all transportation had been stopped, trains, buses, bridges closed to cars, he had to walk all the way home to Queens! But he was safe! There were so many that didn't have the same outcome. So many that didn't get that call from their loved one telling them they were safe, so many that lost their lives that day, 2,996 lives lost to an unbelieveable act of hate. We remember this day not to remember the hate, but to honor the lives of those who died, whether we knew them or not. We thank all the emergency response workers, police, military, medical personele, anyone involved in helping to save the lives that were saved and to recover what bodies could be recovered from those that didn't make it. Those are scenes that I am sure will never be forgotten in their minds, scenes that will haunt them forever. Today, take a moment to thank God for all of those workers and the job that they had to do, say a prayer for the families still missing their loved ones they lost, pray that our country never sees another day like this, and even more importantly, pray for healing in our world! Our world needs healing, God did not create humans to hate eachother and hurt eachother, He created us in love, to love. Lord Jesus, please be with all the families hurting today and missing their loved ones. Please give peace to those still haunted by the images that they can not forget from working and helping there. And Lord, I ask that you heal this world of all the hate, violence and division among your children. Amen. #9/11

There is a teacher shortage, a substitute shortage, teachers are out sick and who is getting the short end of the stick? The kids! 😢. So I decided to do my part, to help with the sub shortage, to help take a bit of the load off the teachers that are working so much harder to help fill the gaps, and to help the students not get as shorted. Today is my first day as a sub.

No one can replace that hole in my heart, it’s a hole that has been there for 24 years. More than half my life without her. Cherish your mom if you still have her, hug her, kiss her, call her, tell her how much you love her and how much she means to you. Also, my mom and dad would have been married 47 years yesterday. National Relaxation Day. For me, how I relax depends on the day. Sometimes it’s sitting on my back deck listening to the birds, a good book and a hot cup of tea, a nice nap, floating in the pool enjoying a little vitamin C☀️, or when I am lucky enough, a nice walk on the beach. Today, it was skipping stones with our nephew at his new camper/campsite. How do you like to relax? I’d love to hear. Maybe all you get today is a quick moment to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, but do yourself a favor and take that moment. ancladabysandramarincampbell
