I’ve been hustling SO hard behind the scenes lately — building, planning, hiring, creating, scheduling, traveling… all the things 😂 — and it feels like so much of that work is finally coming to fruition. This has officially been our busiest season yet, and seeing these little Fairy Hair Garden spaces buzzing makes my heart so happy. 🥹🌿✨

✨ PHOEBE’S CUSTOM DREAD SET ✨

Okayyyy this one was extra special. 🥹🖤 I originally met Phoebe at a market, and getting to spend the whole day together creating her dream hair was honestly just as fun as making the set itself.

Phoebe is a tattoo artist in the Manassas area, and there’s something so special about getting to work with another creative person. We basically got to hang out all day, talk art, life, business, markets and all the weird little things that come along with being a working artist - while slowly watching this whole look come together. ✨

AND LOOK AT HER. 😭 She is freaking gorgeous.

Her set is a completely custom hybrid of human hair + synthetic dreads, with so many different textures, colors and little details throughout. I have a full video coming because there is WAY too much going on in this hair to fit into a few photos.

One of my favorite things about making custom sets like this is that they’re not meant to look like they came straight out of a package. We can mix materials, textures, lengths and colors, add or change pieces over time, and create something that actually feels like an extension of the person wearing it. The pieces are customizable, reusable and interchangeable, so her set can keep evolving right along with her. 🖤

Days like this remind me why I love what I do so much. I get to make weird beautiful hair, meet incredible fellow artists, and somehow call hanging out and creating together “work.” 🥹✨

DREAD DAYZ VLOG🌀✨ Leesburg edition

Come spend some dread days with me because I ended up with THREE completely different dreadlock installs in one trip to Leesburg — and this is exactly the kind of trip that reminds me how much I freaking love what I do. 🥹

First up: a permanent dreadlock install with a color match that I am still obsessing over. 👀 When I’m creating permanent extensions, I’m not just trying to find “close enough” hair — I’m looking at the tones, dimension, highlights, ends, all of it. The goal is for those extensions to feel like they BELONG there.

Then we switched it up with two braid-in dreadlock installs — completely different looks, completely different vibes, and one of my favorite ways to let someone experience having dreads without making the permanent commitment. 🖤

Andddddd I’ve already got another install lined up for tomorrow in Richmond — that is going to be SICK. I gave you a tiny little teaser at the end because I genuinely cannot wait to see this one come together. 😈

I’ve been doing dreadlocks for a long time, and I still get so excited about this work. There is something really special about helping someone look in the mirror and see a version of themselves that feels a little more them. A little wilder. A little freer. A little closer to whatever they’ve been picturing in their head.

Hair can be such a huge part of how we express ourselves, and I freaking LOVE getting to be part of that transformation. 🥹🌀

This cutie pie client + her thick, gorgeous dreads make me so happy every time I see her. 🥹🖤✨

Here’s a little before + after from maintenance day — and can we talk about how beautifully she maintains her locks between appointments?!

She does SUCH a good job keeping each dread separated that when she comes in, we’re mostly just crocheting in the new growth at the roots, cleaning everything up, and she’s done! 🙌

Hair texture makes such a difference when it comes to dreadlock maintenance, too. She has these silky, thicker strands of hair that naturally help keep her root area from matting together, so she gets a little bit of a head start compared to my clients with those super grabby “Velcro roots” and finer, cotton-candy hair texture… aka ME. 😂😜

Every head of hair behaves differently, which is exactly why dread maintenance isn’t one-size-fits-all. Learning your own texture + keeping those babies separated between appointments can make maintenance day SO much easier.

ANDDDD peep those adorable curled front pieces. 👀✨ She does them with a heatless curl technique by wrapping them around her dreads, and it is seriously so cute.
