I saw this a couple times already this month and I LOOOVE this idea! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I listen to a wonderful podcast by @ElizabethDialto and she loves to say "No is a complete sentence." How many of us, especially women are raised to "be nice!" And it gets engrained in our very being that saying "no" is not nice. How many times are you asked to do something or invited to an event and frankly you're already too busy, too overwhelmed or frankly you're just not into it. But we find it impossible to just say no. And if we do find the guts to say no we feel like we need to soften the blow with "I'm sorry" or a lengthy excuse as to why.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What people are you abiding in your life or situations are you allowing to perpetuate because you're afraid of how the other person will react if you say "no". What things are you half heartedly volunteering for or worse being volun-told for?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Go ahead and take a look at your calendar, at each individual event. Why are you doing this thing. Why have you committed to it? (Even the things that are mentally on your calendar but you haven't committed to pen and paper yet). And if it's not a "Hell yes!" then it's a "no".⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you can out right take it off your calendar awesome! If not, what other ways can you take care of this? Maybe you still want to host that Christmas party but you're completely overwhelmed by it. Can you find someone else to clean the house for you? Can you have everyone sign up to bring a dish so you don't have to spend endless hours in the kitchen? Think outside the box!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So what can you take off you plate today?
I’ve been talking a lot about goals and boundaries lately, sadly one thing that most often doesn’t make it on the schedule is self care! I know for a lot of people, including myself, it often feels like another thing on the to do list. Which is the worst! Self love and self care should not be done begrudgingly. 😢 This is the most important part of existing on this Earth, in this body. Failing to take care of yourself is one of the primary signs of burn out! And once you hit this point you burn out even faster, feel even crappier, and just keep spiraling downhill. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself is the most important part of taking care of others. This is why it is vital to take a look at that calendar and start drawing some boundaries. All of these pieces play into each other; helping to support you and support the life you’re trying to create. If one pillar starts to collapse, it will all begin to fall. Which of of these pillars are you lacking the most? If you don’t have any of them supporting you, where can you start building?

I was talking last week about filling your calendar intentionally in order to create the life you truly desire. The most important way to do so is by creating boundaries with yourself and others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ New boundaries can be so so hard to establish. When you’re used to always being or trying to be the nice girl the devoted daughter or perfect wife and mother it can be so so hard to start drawing a line of protection around yourself. Tons of past programming will start to come up saying you’re being mean or what you’re doing is selfish and unloving. But what you’re doing is actually the most loving thing you possibly can do! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Asking yourself “does this support the life I’m trying to create” is one way to make sure that the truly important things make it onto your calendar. Some other good boundary setting phrases to start using are “I’m not available for that,” “I’m sorry but this is not a priority for me right now,” or “my schedule is full can you please take care of this for me." This will help you to pare back your schedule, removing or delegating some tasks that are unnecessary or able to be taken care of by others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who or what have you been engaging with that leaves you feeling drained? Who’s ready for Halloween!? 🎃 🕸 🔮 Definitely this girl! We went to Queen City Mischief and Magic weekend before last and Ruby and I dressed up as professor McGonagall and Bellatrix Lestrange. This weekend we’re heading off to the Maryland Renaissance Fair and I’m trying to find myself a cloak befitting of The Morrígan. Alas, the thrift shops are failing me on my quest! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What are your plans this year and what exciting costumes does everyone have planned??
It’s taken me forever for finally photograph these beauties. @joulehoop had been asking over and over to do a collaboration. When I gave her the moons I had no idea how they would turn out. When she sent them back I could not believe how amazing they turned out! Scientists are still discovering just how important touch is to our mental, emotional, and physical health! This is why I love YoMassage so much. How are you doing right now? How are you feeling with everything that’s going on in the world and your life?

To be honest it’s getting to me. I’m a sensitive person and introvert and at first I was cool with staying home. I had a good paycheck coming in two weeks and it felt good and socially responsible to stop taking clients.

But as the weeks have worn on my motivation has worn equally thin. Even things that started out fun, or that I usually enjoy have become dull and heavy.

I’m lucky in so many aspects of the current situation. I’m fully aware how privileged I am not not be in fear of losing my home. To have the safety and security to not need to find a menial, high risk job to survive. To have support from my fellow coaches and my therapist. And yet my feelings and experience are still valid and uniquely mine.

All this to say I’m going to be stepping away from social media for a minute. I’m taking a much needed mental health break and going out of town where I won’t have consistent service. I will still be checking in with my Etsy in order to ship your Mommy’s Time Out Kits.

[05/03/20]   You may have noticed my content has been inconsistent and rapidly changing lately. This forced down time has brought up a lot of feelings, introspection, and exploration. And I've just been following my excitement and curiosities when it arrises. Every time I try to force myself into consistency or a schedule things start to get hard and heavy. I feel the engrained need to apologize but I won't. I hope you all have enjoyed what I have created and I hope I've inspired you to have some joy and lightness and creativity in your day and grace for yourself when it doesn't look like it "should."

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life

There are so many cutesie little quote cards floating around the internet saying "change your thoughts, change your life!" like you can just flip a switch and boom problem solved.
If you've ever tried to "just change your thoughts" I'm sure you know how difficult it can be. It's difficult for me too! 👇🏼

I've seen tons of memes and jokes about drinking lately. You know the cute pics of a coffee cup running a relay race handing off the baton to a wine glass. Hell someone even animated a bottle of wine begging you to drink it!

All jokes aside are you hydrated right now?

But is it any wonder we feel like crap when we spend all day drinking diuretics. One of the quickest things we can do to take care of ourselves is to stay hydrated. As unsexy as that sounds.

Don’t like water?
💜Try creating a mocktail with some sparkling water and juice. (Seriously Bubly + Mango juice is my favorite thing! I put it in a big wine glass and it feels classy af).
💜Make an herbal tea and snuggle up with a book and a blanket for ultra comfort or drink it iced.
💜Make a smoothie. Smoothies get a lot of grief for being full of sugar but they’re still a great way to get tons of fiber and fluids. For an added bonus you can close your eyes and it tastes like summer (whether it’s actually warm where you are yet or not)!

New video over on YouTube. Today we're doing Lion's breath which is super fun for the kids.

I also personally use this breath a lot when I feel energy stuck in my chest or throat. It helps me to release that and get it up and out of my body. It helps me access the wisdom and message my body is trying to send me (via that tension/stuck energy). Hope this helps you as well as your little ones!

The thing about refusing to feel “negative” emotions is that it equally limits the depth of positive emotions we experience as well! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There can be a multitude of side effects from denying feelings.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💥Pushing down feelings until they explode at the worst possible time or place⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💧Feeling like if you open the well of sadness it will never end⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Frequently feeling irritated by little things⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔥Hating eeeverything the week of your period⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By not recognizing or acknowledging emotions we end up squashing key information about ourselves. Often resulting if not knowing who we are or what we want. And most likely stepping on our own boundaries or not setting them to begin with. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your anger? It’s telling you where you've given your power away. Your anxiety? It’s telling you that something in your life is off balance. Your Fear? It’s telling you what you care about. Your apathy? It’s telling you where you’re overextended and burnt out.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your feelings aren’t random, they are messengers. And if you want to get anywhere, you need to be able to let them speak to you, and tell you what you really need.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the first keys to shifting your mindset and finding better answers is to start asking yourself better questions! Questions like:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💜How is this situation bringing something better into my life right now?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💜How am I already so [smart, beautiful, healthy etc.]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💜How can accomplishing this be easy? What support do I already have to help me complete these tasks?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

They say you become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. Well how much time do you spend with your news feed? Probably a lot. Probably even more during intense times such as this.

I want you to take a good look at what is on your feed! Is it doom and gloom? Is everyone freaking the F out, over reacting and hoarding all the toilet paper and sanitizer for themselves? Or are you seeing inspiring messages, people offering to feed children who cannot get meals during school closures, and generally helping others make the best of a trying situation?

Because honestly I curate the F out of my feed. And I am damn proud of my friends list right now! I am so inspired by so many of you.
So if you’re not seeing what you want to see, if going on FB is creating high levels of anxiety, or watching the news is making you panic, maybe you need to choose better sources. I’m not saying bury your head in the sand. There are plenty of level headed, well resourced, informative articles you can read and stay informed without creating fear and scarcity for yourself.

If the people on your friends list are manic maybe you need to create better boundaries for yourself. You can temporarily or permanently mute certain people if you are triggered by the things they’re saying/sharing online. You can even create boundaries around what you’re willing to discuss with them in person such as “I love spending time with you however, your position on this subject makes me feel very anxious. I would love to talk about other things together but if you continue to pursue this topic of conversation I will have to leave in order to protect my mental health."

Although the other end of the spectrum is equally as dangerous! If your peers (or more likely your parents 😂) are being flippant about this illness and blatantly disregarding public health recommendations that is not a healthy reaction either. We have excellent data and analysis from other countries who have been hit hard, as well as countries who have taken proper precautions and avoided disaster in doing so. The evidence is clear. This virus will spread exponentially if we give it the chance and can quickly become unmanageable for our healthcare system.

So please be respectful and responsible. Stay clam, stay sane and stay safe 💗

I am Nicole Dawn, owner and creatrix of Intuit Healing Arts. In my life I had long felt the calling to a healing profession but it took me many years to answer that nudge. I wandered about aimlessly, bouncing from one meaning less job to another until one fated day I found myself seated across the table from a gifted tarot reader. I thought it was just for fun at a relaxing women's weekend retreat, a much needed diversion from being home alone with a baby during my husband's nine month deployment. One of the decks she chose was called "Soul's Purpose" and out of the nine card spread every. single. card. was "bodyworker", "healer", the list went on but they were all the same. I had been casually thinking of massage school, along with a number of other various career paths since I was transitioning out of the Navy at the time, but it was clear which direction the Universe was steering me towards. Within months I was enrolled at the prestigeous Cayce/Reilly school of Massotherapy and never looked back. Today I love working with my clients to achieve their health goals.
