The ability to capture a moment in time with the click of a camera button simply amazes me.

There are many once-in-a-lifetime memories that I love to reminisce looking through old photos, like my daughter Annabella and my son Grayson's baby photos. They were sooooo tiny!

But there are some day-to-day moments that make my heart happy too, like the activities we do as a family. From kayaking, fishing, riding bikes in the neighborhood and of course getting ice cream on hot days...

I need to make an effort to take pictures of it so I can cherish the memory forever.

What is something that you see everyday that brings you joy?

When you love your country, every day is Memorial Day. Today I'm honoring those who gave their lives for our country and I’m taking my patriotism to the next level by wearing a red poppy to honor fallen soldiers. Tell me friend, how are you spending the day?

Ever since I was little, I’ve been a dreamer.

I used to dream about being on Nickelodeon Slime Shows.

Now, when I dream about success, I envision Full Service Salon with an amazing TRIBE.

I’ve always had big dreams, so thank YOU for accompanying me as I work towards them!

If you could choose one new look/style to bring your hair to life, what would you wish for?

While I’m no fairy godmother, I can grant you the wish of lightness and brightness throughout your hair with some amazing blonding to bring your hair to life.

If that sounds magical to you, let’s talk!

Here is a processing photo & after results...
It turned out absolutely amazing...
Caramel blonde to lighten up her look...
Exactly what she wanted.

I know you, friend…. you want the best bang for your buck.

On that note, there are just 24 hours left to save 20% on all retail products, and get a FREE hair mask sample so don’t miss out!

Tell me, are you all in?

If so, leave a comment so I can celebrate with you!

If not, do you have any questions I can answer?

Last chance!!

I’m sure my best friends have an endless list of words to describe yours truly, but if they had to narrow it down to just three words, I bet they’d call me dependable, ambitious, and beautiful.

While I guess they may be right (after all, they’ve known me for years), I also appreciate the kind words that my clients have used, like a true talent, amazing listener, and the BEST.

I couldn’t be more thankful hearing ALL of these kind words!

What about you, friend? What three words describe you best?

Do you like surprises?

I’m a hairstylist so you can probably guess that from day to day I often use tools like shears, combs, and hair clips to do what I love.

What might surprise you is how necessary education, social media, my online booking site, chocolate or coffee is, too!

What do you do and what do you use to do it?

I realized something today.

After 5 years of working to build my clientele, I realized why I work so diligently.

More specifically, I realized WHO I work so diligently for.

I work for my amazing little family, each and everyday I still wonder how I got so darn lucky to have such an amazing support system.

It’s an honor to be able to work with the hopes of making them proud.

And what about you, friend?

Who do you work for?

Double tap if you want to hear a random fact about me!

I’ve been a business owner since my early twenties when I learned life is too short to not pursue your dreams, BUT I’ve had a mindset of a BOSS since childhood.

And I’ve learned, through all the peaks and valleys that have brought me to where I am now, that the real key to my success, the one thing that allows me to keep this business going is my absolute passion for uplifting and making other women feel beautiful.

Thank you for joining me on this journey.

Often times, people assume that the best part about being a hairstylist must be setting my own hours or always having amazing hair.

While those are both true, and AMAZING perks of this job, I’d have to say that my very favorite thing is making my clients feel truly beautiful and give them this gift is my #1 priority.

I wanted to share this inside look so you know just how much I love what I do.

Is there anything you are a bit insecure about?

If you’re anything like me, something immediately came to mind!

For me, it’s that I’m intensely shy. ( I know shocker right, but I push myself everyday to overcome this struggle, but once I know someone thankfully the shyness goes away)

I have struggled to feel comfortable in social situations all my life, but am working every day to turn things around.

Lately, quell anxiety with daily pep talks and motivational post it quotes around the house.

What are you insecure about, and how do you overcome it?

Regardless of what it is, know this friend: you are enough!

Can we all agree not to work today?

I think few of us would dispute that moms are some of the hardest workers on earth, so in honor of Mother’s Day, let’s all take a well deserved break.

And to help with that, I’m sharing some of my best motherly advice: You are enough & deserve that break...

What’s yours?

I have to admit:I have a TERRIBLE sweet tooth.

I wanna know, what’s your favorite kind of dessert?

I’ll say that for me, I grew up loving red velvet cake ( which I still Love ❤ but lately I’m really into Strawberry Shortcake.

Just writing this post is making my mouth water!

So what’s your favorite sweet treat?

I can’t say I love EVERYthing about my job, and if I’m being honest there are some days I wish that all the hard work, late nights, and sacrifices that come with being my own boss would disappear!

But if I could pick the top three favorite things I love about being a hairstylist, I’d pick the constant inspiration of being an artist, being my own boss ( because I am amazing), and of course my clients who motivate and support me daily.

What would your three things be?

Just like plants require sunlight and water, dreams take some TLC, too!

I may not have a green thumb, even though having a vase of fresh flowers in my salon brightens my days, but I do know what it takes to keep my dreams alive!

A can-do attitude, and, of course, perseverance is all it takes to achieve even the wildest dreams!

What about you? How do you nourish your dreams?

My clients are made up of all different types of people: from those with short dark locks to those with long blonde hair.

But I have a feeling we all have something in common….

We’re celebrating 🌮 Cinco de Mayo today!

My favorite part of this holiday is the excuse to drink margaritas 🍹 on a Tuesday.

Tell me friend, how are you spending the day?

Be sure to celebrate this fun holiday accordingly!

Welcome to Sissy Stengel Hairstylist, where I post a ton about my business, and not infrequently about my adorable family.

But every now and again I like to toss up a post that tells you some things about me you probably didn’t know besides the fact that I’m a hairstylist and salon suite owner.

I have a love-hate relationship with being cold.

Right now, I’m really into trying out new recipes and I love nothing more than game night with the kiddos and reading a good book in the evening.

Nice to meet you! Now tell me something about YOU!

I hate to admit it, but today I noticed I haven’t put on an actual non-pajama, non-sweatpants outfit since FOREVER!

But you know what? I’m surviving, and I love that I have time to do online business in my pj's.

At the end of the day, I continue to work hard because I want to have the kind of life where I’m the one making the rules... dress codes and in-times are for the birds.

What (or who) are you hustling for?

They say April showers bring May flowers, and that is definitely true today! To celebrate May Day, today I’m brightening up my dining room with my favorite flower, hydrangeas. How are you welcoming spring weather?

Who else gets the itch to travel this time of year?!

To get my fix after quarantine is over, I’m hoping to take a long weekend and travel to the OBX to feel the 🌊 ocean breeze in my hair and warm sand between my toes.

Where would you like to go when we’re not sheltering-in-place?

Drop an emoji hinting your dream vacay and let’s see if I can guess the location!

Ready, GO!

Oh hey there!

For those who have been here a while, thanks for stickin’ around!

And for the newbies, have a seat!

I hope you learn a little something new about me today.

How about we do this like a game show lightning round?

Today I want to FB-thank Shari Rubright, and cyber-shout it from the mountaintops for all of you to hear!

I’ve always been the type to send thank you cards, but Shari deserves it.

She has been one amazingly supportive client during this pandemic, weekly sometimes daily check ups on me, I quite honestly couldn’t imagine this world without the amazing person she is...

Thank you Shari Rubright! You’re a beautiful soul inside and out!😘

I guess you could say I’m a pro at saying “thank you” – but if tomorrow I didn’t have the things I didn’t give thanks for today, where would I be?

And in the spirit of thankfulness, I want to tell you that I wouldn’t be who I am without your encouragement and support.

As I continue this adventure, I feel so much gratitude to pursue what I love and have you here for the ride.

I’ll never tire of saying it, friends.

Thank you for being here.

Please help me in wishing a very Happy Birthday!!!

(always helping me with my projects at the salon suite)

He is an amazing Father as well to our two beautiful children.

Most importantly, I am most excited today is your Birthday, just because you requested an Ice Cream Cake.

I ❤ cake & of course you, too.

Hello there new friends,

Welcome to Sissy Stengel Hairstylist Page!

Let’s get to know each other, COVID edition.

I live in a adorable house with my hubby and kids in Suffolk, where I’m spending an awful lot of time these days.

During the quarantine, I’m eating a lot of veggies with ranch dip and doing a lot of afternoon walks in my neighborhood.

I’m feeling super lazy during this time, and I’m coping with it by Netflix binging from Tiger King to Outer Banks.( What else is there for me to do, I have to stay up to date on the newest FB topics 🤪)

It’s been a wild ride, to say the least.

Now tell me about yourself in the comments, COVID-style!

If I’m being honest, I was terrified when I started as a hairstylist 5 years ago.

But I knew that there were so many possibilities waiting for me outside of my comfort zone, so I went for it!

I’m so glad I did, because I’ve been able to serve amazing people like Lauren, who said this about me: “Sissy did AMAZING with my hair! Wow! She blew me away! I will continue to return to her after this session!”

Her heartfelt words gave me all the warm fuzzies.

There’s so much joy in what I do, and for that I am so very thankful.

What’s the toughest challenge you’ve ever faced? The greatest lesson you ever learned? Well, friend, it’s National Write Down Your Story Day, so there’s no better time to share! Would you have guessed I wasn't always the only child? When I was younger, I lost my older brother Stevie to staph infection that occurred during a checkup appointment after having open heart surgery. That hasn’t always been easy to share. And many ask me all the time about my name "Sissy" It was given to me by him. And it's been the only name I've gone by since. Speaking your truth is a brave and vulnerable act, but it’s how we build real connections. Plus, you never know when a page from your story will turn into a key chapter in someone else’s survival guide! Tell me some of your story, friend.

Are you taking precautions from the coronavirus or any illness in general??

Here in the suite I’m ready for anything to come my way...

I got some NEW hair products to try on all my guest this month.

And I have also stocked up on hand sanitizer, hand soap, Lysol and I am cleaning & sanitizing after every guest.

Also I got the magic blue disinfectant that no hairstylist can live without!

My family has been battling on and off with the FLU since December, so I’m on a mission not to get sick again anytime soon.

So I beg you... please do not come to the suite if you have been sick or had a fever in the past 24 hours. I will understand completely if we have to reschedule.

I work so closely with my each of my guest too and as a consideration to you as well, if I’m sick I will respectfully reschedule you for the following week. Please understand that it’s for both our benefit. I don’t do well as a sick women it’s not a pretty sight.

So like I tell my kids wash your hands, use your hand sanitizer and don’t touch your face.

And Be Safe out there in the world!!!

Hello & Welcome!

I was born and raised to be a smart and stylish southern gal in a darling little town in South Carolina.

And I've used that to my advantage as a hairstylist in Virginia Beach the past five years. I love my career as a hairstylist making other's feel like their best it truly fills my soul.

As a happy little introvert, I thrive on one-on-one interactions and work to create a comfortable, relaxed environment you are sure to enjoy!

In my personal time I am an avid reader as well as a podcast and audio book junkie.

If you catch me out in town your sure to find me at Targets, Barnes and Nobles or at a local Mexican restaurant, which I have a personal goal to become a connoisseur of the local margaritas.

I have two beautiful children and an amazing husband who support me in all my endeavors. Who I also enjoy creating memories with as much as possible. As a family we enjoy going kayaking, bike riding and finding new nature trails to visit together.

I'm also a education fanatic! I am always researching new techniques to help me in the salon, as well as traveling to many classes. I love creating new and fresh looks for my clients.

Please contact me today for a complimentary consultation.

I look forward to working with you and sharing all my hair knowledge!

Kind Regards,

Sissy Stengel
