Hello Lovelies! My 17 year old daughter suffers SEVERE cramping (rocking in pain). Fainting & nausea during first 1-2 days of her period. Misses school. Takes magnesium prior and during, vit B, fish oil, daily yoga, no tampons. I know tons of other elements to factor in but I am wondering what she can take at the time of the cramping? Thanks so very much!

Hi! I’ve been having a lot of trouble with anxiety over the summer and after seeing Megan post about it, I started taking Inositol daily. It’s been about a month now and it has been a huge help! Is there any reason why I shouldn’t use it long-term? I don’t want to inadvertently cause any problems by taking it regularly.
Anyone have recs for a good air filter that doesn't break the bank, but that we could put in a room at night?
Megan- I listened to you on the Women's Strength Summit and got a lot of great information from you, thanks! I am wondering one thing- if I plan to exercise early in the morning before I shower, would you recommend dry brushing before exercise? Or should I dry brush after I exercise and right before I get in the shower?

Hi everyone 👋🏽 it’s been a really rough week for all of us. I know that non-Black folks are doing everything they can to learn + unlearn their way towards being better allies to us. This is evident based on the 8,000 wonderful folks that started following me recently (ummm, wow! Thank you 🙏🏽). I’ve been having so many impactful conversations I have been having in my DM’s. Despite all of the resources and information that’s coming your way I know that this sh*t is really tough to talk about.

I’ve been having a lot of conversations with my closest non-Black friends and a lot of them have confided in me to say they simply don’t know what to say to their Black friends right now. Listen, I get it. I’m right there with you. Most of my conversations with my Black friends start and end with tears.

Talking about race is hard for us too. Mainly because it can’t trigger past lived experiences and traumas that cause us to feel sadness, regret and in most cases shame. All of this is causing us to open up old wounds that we’ve suppressed for years just to cope. So, to all of my new non-Black friends and followers and specifically the white folks looking to do better if you haven’t said anything to your Black friends yet, please do so. I know it’s hard so I’ve shared some things that people have said to me that made my heart smile and my soul feel good.

Everyday I try to offer love, compassion and healing words in online and in real spaces that I occupy. Everyday I try to offer solutions to behavior, to inefficient patterns, to conflicts that arise in us all though self-reflection.

But there’s pain, there’s hate, there’s wrong, there are low-vibrational mindsets, leaders and ideologies that do need to be confronted as well.

I (Megan) cried a lot today. I cried for George Floyd’s horrific death. I cried for Ahmaud Arbery who was shot while just going for a jog. I cried for the state of our country. I cried for my role as a white privileged female who has done nothing to help change the narrative.

Here are the things that I am committed to:

1. Muted. We will not be posting any of our own content on our feed this week and will instead be sharing the voices, experiences, and work of Black activists, creators, educators and more for the #AmplifyMelanatedVoices Challenge from @blackandembodied and @jessicawilson.msrd.⠀

2. Educate myself. What is anti-racism and how this is very different than thinking “I am not racist”. Unlearning and relearning. I will start with the recommendations White Fragility by Robin Diangelo, How to be an Anti-Racist by @ibramxk

3. Educate my children. When in doubt, my go-to has always been to turn to books so we will start there for them as well. I asked you all in our stories for suggestions and I will share all the great suggestions there. We will open the discussion and I am committed not to shying away from hard conversations.

4. Donate. I’ve heard the message and it has been received. Posting on social media without supporting the organizations who are changing the narrative will not get us very far. We will donate $1600 this week as well as 10% of all Fight or Flight Fix proceeds to @thelovelandfoundation with a focus on Black women and girls. I’m also inviting my friends, family and community to step up, make a donation, and be a part of the change. Pick the organization that speaks the most to you, we posted in our stories many of the recommendations from our audience.

5. Scholarships. We love a recent DM suggestion from a past member of our Healthy Hormones course. She suggested that Healthy Hormones may be inaccessible to women of color who suffer huge hormonal issues and health issues and do not have much disposable income.

I found myself frustrated with myself recently that I had fallen off of a lot of healthy habits. My internal questions sounded a lot like.. why did you let that go? What aren’t you a consistent person? Why can’t I stick to anything long term?

I didn’t realize at the time, but the more I asked the questions the worse my state and energy. The worse my state, the more I beat myself up.. and the more I beat myself up the less I felt like doing anything good for myself!!

.
It became a self fulfilling prophecy..
.
.
And then I’m a moment of silence, I recognized the chatter and I flipped the questions. How can I support myself to add back in my healthy habits? What’s the ONE thing that will make the most difference? What the EASIEST thing to get my momentum going?

And just like that I had a plan.

I feel there is nothing more powerful than continually looking at and reframing our questions.. whether they are spoken or in our head

As your period finishes, the ovaries are getting the signal to build up multiple eggs so that ovulation—and possible fertilization to make a baby—is possible.
