[03/13/21]   In-person visits have always been a key component to support the health and well-being of our patients. All visitations should be person-centered and consider the patient’s physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. They are also designed to support their quality of life.

We have always placed tremendous value on our patients being able to connect with their loved ones face-to-face. Now, with changes in the CDC and CMS guidance, these visits are possible. We are eager to welcome our patients’ beloved family and friends back into our centers. Our approach to visitation will be disciplined and well-planned. We will strictly follow the CMS visitation guidance and continue to adhere to direction provided by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our state and local health departments.

Effective today there will be several types of visitation that will be encouraged. Outdoor, indoor, and compassionate care visits. While each of these visitations generally meet the same goals, they differ on the location and duration of the visit. Outdoor visitation is preferred even when the patient and visitor are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Outdoor visits are preferred because they generally pose a lower risk of transmission due to increased space and airflow. Therefore, all patient visits should be held outdoors, whenever possible, weather and the patient’s health permitting.

Indoor visitation can occur in designated areas of the center with no more than two visitors at any given time, regardless of their vaccination status. Indoor visits can occur except for a few circumstances when visitation should be limited due to a high-risk of COVID-19 transmission. Those circumstances include limiting indoor visitation for unvaccinated residents and patients if the city or county positivity rate is greater than 10%, and less than 70% of the patients are fully vaccinated; limiting indoor visitation for residents and patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, until they have met the criteria for discontinuing transmission based precautions; and limiting indoor visitation for residents and patients in quarantine, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, until they have met the criteria for being released from quarantine. Please also note that new admissions who are on precautions cannot have visitors for 14 days.

This has been a difficult time for us all, and we are sincerely excited to welcome you back! Despite the challenges we’ve faced, you have been a valued partner, and our staff thanks you for your continued trust in us. Each and every one of our patients is like family to us, and we remain committed to keeping them healthy and safe.

When the local prevalence rate or our center’s status changes, our ability to allow visitation may change as well. Please call our center with any questions and to schedule your visit. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

[09/29/20]   The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued new guidance for visiting long-term care facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidance includes specific rules and additional safety measures designed to ensure the well-being of our patients and staff. We have worked diligently to implement these guidelines, but they may change frequently as they are based on the COVID-19 positivity rate in our local city or county and the status of our center as it relates to COVID-19. When our city or county prevalence rate is less than 10% and when our center has no cases of COVID-19, visitation will be allowed. At this time, our center meets these two criteria, therefore we will be opening our center to visitation. Outdoor visitation is strongly preferred, however indoor visitation can be facilitated, when necessary. Visitors must complete a screening questionnaire and temperature check with each visit and may be required to present a negative test result. Those who have a temperature of 99.5 degrees or higher or who are displaying any signs or symptoms that may be related to COVID-19 will not be allowed to visit. Those who have had a recent positive test result will not be permitted to visit until they are symptom free, have had no fever for 24 hours and at least ten days have passed from symptom onset. In order to maintain six feet social distancing, only two visitors are allowed per visit. Both patients and visitors are required to wear a face covering, and visits must be scheduled, by appointment only, between the hours of 10:00am and 6:00pm.

This has been a difficult time for us all, and we cannot wait to welcome you back! However, please keep in mind that if the local prevalence rate or our center’s status changes, our ability to allow visitation will change as well. Please call our center with any questions or to determine our current visitation status. We look forward to safely seeing you again soon.

[09/18/20]   We want to share an important update regarding visitation at our center. This week, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services issued new guidance for visiting long-term care facilities during this time of COVID-19. The guidance which takes into consideration the needs of our patients and families to see each other in-person includes specific rules as well as additional safety measures to ensure the well-being of our visitors, patients and employees is being maintained. We are working diligently to implement these guidelines, but they are dependent on the positivity rate in the community. We will provide more information as soon as we can. We are excited for the possibility to be able to welcome visitors again, but want to make sure we do so in a safe manner. We continue to appreciate your patience and support.

Samuel Obispo is a true champion and survivor of COVID-19! He is the first patient who we’ve cared for that was previously diagnosed. His illness started after a family trip from the Philippines on March 9th with a layover in Japan and Detroit. He was hospitalized from March 14th-April 26th battling the coronavirus. After testing negative and free from isolation, he was discharged to Princess Anne for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services. Through constant clinical monitoring, multiple respiratory assessments, physical, occupational and speech therapy, Mr. Obispo finally recovered to a point where he could discharge home safe, functional and independent. He was physically reunited with his family after 67 days due to strict guidelines from the pandemic. The entire Princess Anne team took on the challenge of caring for this gentleman with ease. We found pure joy in seeing his will to fight and recover. Mr. Obispo plans to return as a visitor someday to personally thank everyone. 😊

For yesterday's therapeutic team building activity, we had a "Cake Walk." We played the song "Happy" while ten employees began the game on any number and walked in a circle until the song stopped. Random numbers were called and the employee with the lucky number got the cake with the matching number. We gave out ten delicious cakes while social distancing in our lovely Mobility Garden.

05/05/2020

Our morale booster yesterday was snow cones! We're working together towards a common vision, caring for our patients and coworkers.

Our passion is our patients' success

Princess Anne Health & Rehabilitation Center brings a whole new level of world-class rehabilitation care to the Virginia Beach area. Completed in May 2015, every detail was designed from the ground up with one goal in mind: getting our patients back home quicker, healthier, and stronger than ever after an illness or surgery.

Our center offers 120, sparkling clean private rooms for ultimate comfort. With an open, spacious layout that's easy to navigate, walk-out patios for fresh air, and plenty of room for visits from family and friends, they're the perfect environment for your best recovery. We also have a state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym that is constantly being updated with the most advanced rehabilitation equipment, and our exclusive Mobility Garden is one of the latest advances in rehabilitation therapy. By simulating the everyday situations you'll encounter when you're back at home (such as sand, grass, inclines, and uneven surfaces), our Mobility Garden insures that you'll be 100% ready to resume your everyday activities safely and independently. There are even plant beds, putting greens, and more to make sure you're ready for your favorite activities, too.

We proudly serve patients in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, and beyond.
