Spent a wonderful afternoon in Old Greenwich visiting with my good friend Roberto Dutesco, the visionary artist behind The Wild Horses of Sable Island.
Roberto’s work is nothing short of extraordinary. Through his photography and artistic vision, he has captured the beauty, spirit, and mystery of the wild horses that roam one of the most remote islands in the world. His images are powerful, timeless, and deeply moving.
If you have not experienced Roberto’s work, I highly encourage you to take a look. It is a remarkable body of art that celebrates nature, freedom, and the enduring connection between animals and the land they inhabit.

Always inspiring to spend time with artists whose passion and dedication continue to leave such a lasting impact.
Just another day in … and a reminder that you never know what you’re going to see out here. 🐻
We caught this mama bear and her two cubs taking a stroll across the road. Moments like these make you stop, smile, and appreciate the wild beauty that surrounds us.
Nature always has a way of surprising us. ❤️🐾

Which artist do you think predicted the future?
Some artists don't just reflect their time—they seem to see beyond it.
Long before artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and our increasingly digital lives, certain artists were already exploring themes of technology, isolation, transformation, and the relationship between humanity and machines. Their work feels remarkably relevant today.
What fascinates me most is how great art often reveals truths before society fully understands them. Artists have a unique ability to sense cultural shifts, question assumptions, and imagine possibilities that may not become reality for decades.
The question isn't whether artists can predict the future. The question is whether we're paying attention.
I explore this idea in my latest blog and examine how artists throughout history have anticipated cultural and technological shifts long before the rest of the world caught up. I invite you to read the article and join the conversation.

There is nothing more gratifying as an artist than hearing from collectors who tell me how much joy a piece brings them every day.
My sculpture Resting Cat has found a wonderful home, and I recently received a note about how much it has become part of the rhythm of the house. Whether catching the morning light or greeting guests as they enter, this peaceful feline has become a beloved presence in the space.
When I created Resting Cat, I hoped to capture the quiet beauty, comfort, and dignity that cats embody so naturally. Knowing that the sculpture continues to bring smiles and spark conversations is one of the greatest rewards of being an artist.
Art has a unique way of transforming a house into a home, and I am honored that Resting Cat has become part of this family’s story.

One of my favorite sculptures has found a beautiful home.
Resting Cat now sits as a centerpiece in the home of my dear friend, Holly Holden, in Farmington. There is something especially rewarding about creating artwork that becomes part of someone’s daily life—a quiet presence that brings warmth, character, and a sense of connection to a space.
Cats have always fascinated me with their grace, independence, and moments of complete stillness. In Resting Cat, I wanted to capture that feeling of calm contentment—the simple elegance of a creature completely at peace.
Thank you, Holly, for giving Resting Cat such a wonderful place to rest.

Animal art has endured for centuries because it speaks to us on both an emotional and symbolic level. The most compelling works do far more than depict a creature—they create presence, atmosphere, and meaning within a space.
Whether sculpture or painting, the strongest animal artworks transcend decoration. They invite reflection, evoke memory, and reveal something new over time. As collectors, it's worth looking beyond the subject itself to the artist's vision, craftsmanship, and ability to create a lasting emotional impact.
A great work of animal art doesn't simply match a room—it transforms it.

A Guide to Collecting Animal Art | Mara Fine Arts A Guide to Collecting Animal Art May 20, 2026 A leopard in Lucite catches light differently at 9 a.m. than it does at dusk. A painted horse can shift from portrait to presence depending on where it hangs, what surrounds it, and how long you live with it. That is the real starting point for any guide...

A great afternoon and lunch with my good friend Holly Holden Design.
Good conversation, plenty of laughs, and the kind of company that makes time fly by. Always nice to step away from the studio and catch up with wonderful people.
Thanks for a lovely day, Holly.

Helen of Troy
“The face that launched a thousand ships.”
My public sculpture at the QCC Art Gallery in Queens reimagines one of mythology’s most enduring figures — not simply as beauty, but as power, consequence, memory, and desire.
Helen has lived for centuries as both muse and myth, blamed and worshipped, human and symbolic. In this work, I wanted to capture the tension between fragility and strength, between the timeless and the contemporary.
Placed in a public space, the sculpture invites viewers to pause and consider how stories survive through generations — and how the female figure continues to carry history, projection, longing, and transformation.
Created in collaboration with Faustino Quintanilla, Museum Director at the QCC Art Gallery Museum, this installation became an opportunity to bring mythology, sculpture, and public engagement together within an important cultural institution in Queens.
Art has the ability to make ancient narratives feel immediate again. This piece is my conversation with that idea.

A beautifully designed room can still feel incomplete without a singular work that gives it presence. Statement sculpture does more than decorate a space — it creates rhythm, anchors emotion, and changes how a room is experienced.
The strongest interiors are not built through excess, but through intentionality. One meaningful sculptural work can transform an entryway, soften a modern space, or introduce depth and atmosphere that furniture alone cannot create.
In this new piece, I explore the difference between decorative objects and collectible sculpture, the role of light and material, and why art remains one of the few elements in a home that carries both emotional permanence and cultural value.
