Your gut is 100% unique to you - no one has the same makeup. Therefore it's important to get the right Prebiotics and Probiotics for your system. A lot of this comes from trial and error. I know that's not fun, but it's the truth.
Prebiotics vs Probiotics
Read the first picture for more details on the differences, but here are some highlights:
1) Prebiotics are the "food" that allows healthy bacteria to grow, they are not the same as probiotics.
Prebiotics are found in garlic, onions, Jerusalem artichokes, dandelion root, chicory root, burdock root, turmeric root, licorice root, triphala and turkey tail mushrooms
2) Probiotics are the actual good bacteria that the gut needs to "win the war" against bad bacteria. It is not good or realistic to have a completely clear, good bacteria gut. All digestive systems contain bad bacteria - which is ultimately the diversity that's needed to create a strong system.
Don't stress over taking probiotic supplements! Eat some homemade or good sourced fermented foods daily, just a little bit is enough. If you find yourself sensitive to fermented foods, start very slowly, maybe a tsp or tablespoon and build from there.
Yogurt, kefir, fermented vegetables are great sources.
I give specific information on herbs in the slides.
In my Apothecary:
Turkey tail mushroom
Turmeric root
Licorice root
Dandelion root
Burdock root
Triphala

Allergies: A comprehensive approach 🌿❤️
It's that time of year!! I can tell in our house - my allergy kids get flare ups. We love nettle and turmeric.
Harry has had an "allergy cough" and the nettle stops it (by drying up the mucus in his nasal passages and throat). I have also started giving Archie a small dose in his bottles. 1 drop per 2 lbs of body weight; this ensures tummy upset won't happen.
✨Great, Simple Allergy Tonic:
1/4 tsp acerola cherry powder
1/4 tsp cream of tartar (potassium)
1 Tablespoon raw honey
Pour everything in a small glass and add warm water, shake or stir, drink!!
I love perfect supplements acerola cherry powder, use code REDFLOWER for 10% off.

✨There are two common types of allergies - food and respiratory (known as seasonal, hay fever, etc).
Common food allergies are pasteurized dairy products, wheat, nightshade plants (tomatoes, eggplant), eggs and nuts. Removing suspected foods for three weeks to check for sensitivity is recommended.
IMPORTANT 👇
Seasonal allergies, allergies to environmental factors, etc. oftentimes have food allergies as the ROOT cause. And many times, just eliminating the food does not act as a cure all. There has been long term damage done that can be reversed, however. In this case digestive bitters, enzymes and herbs are suggested as support. Probiotics from fermented foods, Prebiotics from foods and herbs.
Digestive Bitters and Liver Cooling Herbs:
🌿 Dandelion Root
🌿 Yellow Dock Root
🌿 Burdock Root
🌿 Artichoke Leaf
🌿 Gentian
🌿 Ginger
🌿 Orange and Tangerine Peel
🌿 Angelica Root
🌿 Licorice Root
🌿 Cinnamon, Cardamom, Hops
Artichoke Leaf and Gentian Root are two of my favorites - they stimulate all the digestive enzymes, regulate the bowels and boost the immune system 👏
Digestive Enzyme Support: Helps to break down fats, carbs and protein effectively.
🌿 Hawthorn Fruit
🌿 Barley Sprouts
🌿 Pineapple, Papaya, Ginger
Can we just give it up for Ginger for a minute 🙌 Ginger is one of the most amazing and versatile herbs prescribed for pain, immune stimulating, digestion, motion sickness and hormonal conditions - to name a few ❤️
For acute symptoms:
🌿 Antiinflammatories such as Turmeric and Goldenseal.
🌿 Nettles, Eyebright and D**g Quai as natural antihistamines.
Message me for any questions about specific herbs or conditions ❤️
Thank you 💕

Menopause/Perimenopause Belly and Weight Gain
Message or comment below any questions you have on this topic!
You can scroll through each picture and read causes and support on this.
I want to say one important piece - This didn't happen over night. The body gives warning signs starting in the early 40s and even the 30s that point to hormonal and cellular imbalances. It is important to pay attention to these.
But even if you're through menopause, going through it - it's NEVER too late to turn your body around and get on the right track.
In my Apothecary I offer support like:
Minerals
Liver
Digestive
Lymphatic
Adaptogens

To help with this time of life
I also suggest doing an HTMA (hair test mineral analysis) to see where your minerals are and what needs to be balanced.

GUT HEALTH 101
I have heard clients/customers say things like...
(Heck, I've said these things in the past about my own body!)
1) I don't think I am absorbing my food and any nutrients.
2) I don't think my body is producing the right stomach enzymes and acids to break down my food.
3) Something is definitely wrong with my digestive system because of my bowels and just how my digestive system reacts to food everyday.
And they are usually right! These are unfortunately common things that people experience. We need to honor these signs at the body is giving us. If we ignore it and continue to put our body under the stress that it is experiencing it will lead to chronic disease.
What to do?
I am not an expert on this topic, and I also realize it's a personal thing, but your stools DO matter!
Some things I've learned over the years:
1) Going every day is important and normal.
2) Stools that float - This means you're not absorbing the crucial fats your body needs. Stools should sink
3) Stools should be solid. If they're not, this means that something is upsetting your body; stressing it. Either literal stress or a food, medication, supplement, etc.
4) Gluten and processed dairy are common culprits. Caffeine and stimulants.
5) Even healthy foods, like dried fruit, fermented foods, some grains. These are good, your body just might not be ready for them yet.
Things I Recommend:
1) Stop eating seed oils and foods that contain them. Canola, sunflower, safflower, vegetable, corn, soybean oils, to name a few. (Saturated fats are healing: raw butter, ghee, coconut oil, olive oil, lard, tallow, avocado oil)
2) Take digestive and bitter herbs (see images below) Triphala & Turmeric as well.
3) Mineral support to support digestive acids:
Mineral Drops
Bone Broth
Aloe Vera
Potassium
Herbal Tea Blends
Adrenal Cocktails
Check out the mineral section on my website!
4) Support the spleen - the blood giver and nutrient support to the digestive system. Astragalus is your best source for this.
I carry this in my digestive blend, immune strength and good gut tea blend
5) Adaptogens to help calm stress and digestive upset.
Things I DON'T recommend:
1) Taking a digestive enzyme supplement first. This should be done under the proper care after all other routes have been tried.
2) Taking a probiotic. There is a place for probiotics, but usually the body is not ready for them if the digestive system needs a major overhaul. And probiotics should essentially come from food sources - real yogurt, veggies, kefir, etc.
3) Doing a detox. This is something I get messages about often.
Unless you feel like you have a parasite, yeast or fungus, I would not suggest doing a detox. Most people are in the state of needing to be "built up" not torn down by a detox first. I do carry a detox in my Apothecary for these special purposes.
Check out all of my products, namely the Liver, Digestive, Adaptogens and Mineral sections that pertain to this post.

Photo on the left 18 months ago, photo on the right today at almost 21 weeks pregnant with our 8th baby!
Girl on the left: fatigued, depleted, "anemic", trying to absorb nutrients.
Girl on the right: balanced, nourished, energy, not "anemic"
I attribute this to mineral balance, eating the right fats and protein, not counting calories but eating intuitively, taking adaptogens, working on liver health, not being afraid of foods that I thought would make me gain weight - like fat, eating the right foods that my body can absorb, not over exercising - working out when I want to, finally stopping the "search" for the best supplements and just abiding by the few core supplements that almost every body needs.
I will be 40 this year. I want to age gracefully. I want to have a balanced time in my fertile years and an amazing transition into menopause whenever that is. I am over obsessing about the scale and how clothes fit, etc. I want to be a balanced, nourished mom that can bring my A game (almost) every day. Even if that means carrying some extra weight to keep my hormones happy.
One of the first things that I noticed about my physical appearance was how much fuller my lips were and the color in my face. I used to be pale so much more with thinner lips. I attribute this to minerals, real sources of A D K and E, collagen and intentional lifestyle choices.
I love to help women with feeling their best!
If you would like to schedule a 1:1 consultation with me, message me, I would love to help you!
Thank you,
Stephanie

Tinctures are becoming more and more popular! 🙌❤️🙌
I want people to be educated on ingredients before purchasing a tincture.
Alcohol is the best solvent to use in a tincture.
Why?
Because alcohol tinctures have extracted all or most of the medicinal benefits from the plant(s) used.
Plus they are more efficient in getting those benefits into your body.
Glycerin is also a popular solvent. I see this often, even in reputable companies.
However, the truth is that glycerin, while being a non alcohol option, is not the best solvent to extract the medicinal benefits from the plant(s) used.
I DO offer glycerin tinctures in my Apothecary, but these are geared more towards children, as I realize the desire for non alcohol options. Children's systems are smaller and more efficient, thus adapting to the glycerin better.
Just check the ingredients before purchasing an extract or tincture!

❤️Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls:
Use my 3 ingredient sourdough bread recipe the night before (I can tag you, or you can scroll through my posts)
In the morning, punch down the dough and roll into a large rectangle.
Make the filling:
1/2 cup room temp butter (1 stick), 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 T cinnamon, pinch salt. Mix with fork, until smooth and spread with a spatula over the rectangle.
Roll into a log, pinching the seams until smooth. Cut into 12-13 pieces with a serrated knife. Place in buttered pan, cover with plastic wrap. Let rise a few hours.
Bake at 350 F for 25 mins uncovered and 10 mins covered with aluminum foil at the end.
Glaze:
1 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 3 T raw milk or milk of choice
Mix until smooth and pour over cooled cinnamon rolls!
Enjoy! ❤️❤️❤️

Low blood sugar is considered a hormonal system issue and therefore these plants address that 👇
🌿Dandelion Root: Due to its large content of minerals, it surges the blood with these crucial elements as they are stripped away by processed and high sugar foods. Dandelion Root supports the liver - flushing out toxins quickly and bringing homeostasis to the body. This will stabilize blood sugar within 10-15 minutes after eating.
🌿 Rehmannia: One of my all time favorite adaptogens. Superb at stabilizing the body in mood, temperament, difficult menopause symptoms, immunomodulation and blood sugar stabilization.
🌿 Siberian Ginseng: Excellent adaptogen, overall work horse for the body. Able to hone in on deficiencies and correct them over time
🌿Shiitake: Top mushroom of choice for blood glucose and insulin regulation. Because of its high fiber content and cell wall glycoproteins it can lower blood glucose by 22%
🌿Reishi: Beta glucans work to lower blood sugar and bring Homeostasis to the body.
✨Mushrooms and Adaptogens must be taken consistently to see overall effects long term. Double bonus - they correct other things needing correction in the process!
❤️ It must be said that staying away from "simple carb" only meals and snacks will dramatically improve blood sugar levels. For example, if I eat a sugary donut for breakfast, a sub sandwich for lunch, a granola bar for snack and pasta with sugary tomato sauce for supper, I will not feel very well and have little energy.
❤️Eat meals concentrated in protein fat and complex carbs. For example, eggs, avocado and whole wheat toast for breakfast - Fresh greens with fish and sweet potato for lunch, bone broth protein shake for snack and beef roast, green beans and potato with butter and sour cream for supper.
✨Check out www.redflowerapothecary.com for all the plant medicines listed above!
Thank YOU
