Had a funny conversation with a client about different tools to support muscles and fascia and together we came up with a fun rhyme to help you remember one of the many tools that you can use to relax your muscles.

Me: Head to TJ max they got those gua sha’s for like 4-5 dollars, it helps the muscles and fascia.
Client: ….. it’s called a fascia?
Me: No the GUA SHA helps the FASCIA.
Client: Don’t tell Sasha about the Gua Sha that helps the Fascia that’s how I’ll remember it 💀

My clients are the best. 🤣 Anyways there are so many useful tools one of the ways you can use tools like this is for scraping along the bottom of your feet if you struggle with foot pain due to tight muscles. I often get asked by parents if I work on children, and the answer is yes. Our kids need bodywork, too. With the amount of physical activity and strain that can come from sports, dance, theater, and just being active, they can be just as likely to experience sore, tired muscles as we are.

I also think these sessions can be really valuable teachable moments. They learn early that taking care of their bodies is important and that self-care isn’t something we wait for until we’re completely worn down.

I encourage parents to be involved in the process. I ask you accompany your child during initial intake and, depending on your child’s comfort level and what feels appropriate, you are welcome to sit in during the session as well.

My goal is always for the child to feel safe, comfortable, respected, and heard while learning what it means to take care of their body. I offer foot reflexology and that’s a great way to introduce the entire family to body work that is comfortable and treats the entire system through just the feet and lower legs.
