Have you ever considered a home birth, but weren’t sure where to start?
Maybe you’ve wondered who actually provides home birth services in our community. Maybe you didn’t know that there are Black midwives right here serving families, or that your insurance may help cover your care.
On October 22nd from 12:00–1:30 PM, I’ll be moderating a LIVE virtual conversation with Latasha Brown, APRN, CNM, WHGRNP-BC and Kova Brown, CPM, specializing in Homeopathics, as we talk openly about home birth and access to out-of-hospital midwifery care.
We’re going to talk about what home birth actually looks like, who may be a good candidate, safety and preparation, insurance coverage, choosing a midwife, and what families should know when considering this option.
There will also be time for live Q&A, so bring the questions you’ve been wanting to ask.
One of the reasons I wanted to bring this conversation together is because access means more than services simply existing. Our community has to know those services are here, understand their options, and have an opportunity to speak directly with the people providing the care.
Whether you’re currently pregnant, planning for a future pregnancy, supporting someone who is expecting, working as a doula or birth worker, or you simply want to learn more about birth options in our community, you’re welcome to join us.

Please share this flyer with a mama, family, doula, birth worker, or anyone who deserves to know they have options. 💜
Birth options matter. Access matters. Representation matters. And informed families deserve to know what is available to them.

Birth in Color Midwifery is Hosting a Community Blood Drive – Saturday June 14th 2025
“World 🌎 Blood Donor Day”
About 3% of births require a blood transfusion immediately afterwards. It’s in moments like these—where every second counts—that the generosity of blood donors becomes critically important.
You can help expectant and new parents overcome unexpected challenges, offering them the chance for more joy with their newborn babies. All blood types are needed to ensure a robust blood supply is available when newborn’s parents need it most.

Birth in Color Midwifery is Hosting a Community Blood Drive – June 14, 2025 “World 🌎 Blood Donor Day”
We’re proud to announce that Birth in Color Midwifery will be hosting a community blood drive in June 14, 2025 as part of our ongoing efforts to address racial disparities in maternal and infant health.
Blood donations play a VITAL role in supporting birth-related emergencies, postpartum recovery, and neonatal care—especially in communities of color where access to lifesaving blood products can be limited. By donating, you are helping bridge that gap and directly supporting safer outcomes for birthing people and babies.
Join us this June in giving back, saving lives, and standing for equity in care.
