Today is the day! After 41 years, I am retired! I came out of high school with a diploma and a license to create. At 18, I didn’t know where it would take me but I knew I wanted to be one of the best, learn from the best and build a career. I worked at only two salons for the first 23 years of my career. In that time, I built a clientele, honed my craft and took salon business courses, that would eventually lead me to owning two salons these last 18 years. The first salon I owned, was with my sister in law, and my sister was the manager. We built it from scratch, designed everything from the layout, the stations, to the logo and everything in between. The team we had was more than co-workers, they were family. I’m forever grateful for their trust in what we envisioned, for their years of support, helping us expand, and mostly for their friendship and love. You know who you are 💗 I’m proud of what I built but I couldn’t have done it without the people who walked through the doors every 4-6 weeks…. for years!! There’s a process when assessing a color application, no matter if it’s the first time you’re meeting or if it’s someone who sees you regularly.

Most clients don’t realize that as we’re chatting with them we’ve already started thinking of colors to add to our formulas AND our method of application AND what we need to add or subtract to achieve end result AND percentage of grey AND texture of hair AND porosity.

That’s rolling through our heads in just the first few minutes!

Then, it’s the chemistry part, the amount of each color we are using in our formula. Every color I do is custom to each clients hair, not cookie cutter, never just one color.

This client:
•75% grey (front hairline)
•50% grey (crown to occipital)
•Ends light
•Mid shaft is dark from previous color being pulled through

Process: color on regrowth, followed by decolorizer & 30 vol foiled throughout & refreshed with original color formula to create a tone on tone effect.
