Do you fear the travel bloat? âď¸
I struggled with digestive bloating, food sensitivities, constipation, fatigue, and acne for years. I was always anxious before and during traveling because I never knew how my body would feel.
Doctors put me on laxatives 2x a day and had me cut out many food groups, but it didnât help.
When I told doctors I didnât want to rely on laxatives every day, they said I should feel âlucky.â Really?! đ¤Śđťâď¸
Especially on vacation, I did NOT feel lucky. I didnât want to spend my trips worrying about bloating, constipation, or how my body would react to food.
After years of struggling and learning more about nutrition, lifestyle, and a functional approach, I started to understand that there was more to my symptoms than I realized.
And sometimes, the things youâre doing to âhelpâ your digestion may not be addressing what your body actually needs. đ
So, what can you do differently when traveling?
Iâm sharing a few simple tips in this carousel that can help support your digestion while youâre on vacation. âď¸
But if youâre constantly dealing with bloating or constipation and want to understand what might be contributing to it in the first place, send me a DM. đ
đ Letâs talk about what your body may be trying to tell you.
When youâre tired, bloated, frustrated with your weight, craving sugar AND struggling to get yourself to work out, getting healthier means looking for the thread connecting them.
Your brain and nervous system are constantly taking in information and influencing how your body responds. When your system has been operating in survival mode for too long, those warning signs can start showing up in seemingly unrelated ways.
Thatâs why my approach includes nutrition and lifestyle, but it also goes underneath the symptomsâlooking at stress responses, subconscious patterns, and what your body may be asking for⌠which is often the same message.
You donât have to figure everything out at once. Start by learning your bodyâs language.

The biggest shift in how I think about health⌠that creates the conditions for the body to heal.
Instead of looking at fatigue, cravings, stubborn weight, bloating, poor sleep, or low motivation and asking, âHow do I fix each of these?â...
I ask: âWhat are they telling us?â
Because I donât see your body as a collection of separate parts. Your brain and nervous system are constantly communicating with your body and influencing how it responds to the world around you.
So yes, I work with nutrition, movement, and lifestyle. But we also follow the clues underneath the symptomsâyour nervous system, stress responses, subconscious patterns, and the things your body may have been responding to for years.
The goal isnât to get better at fighting your symptoms but to understand why theyâre there so you know what actually needs support.
đ Follow Madalyn Baer | Nervous System & Fitness Coach if you want to learn your bodyâs language instead of constantly guessing what it needs.
These aren't âbad habitsâ you need more discipline to fix. They're warning signs that your body is asking for support. đ
When you're relying on caffeine to function, crashing during the day, feeling drained by workouts, staying up even though you're exhausted, or constantly craving sugar and carbs, I don't just look at each one as a separate problem to solve.
I look underneath them at the nervous system.
When the body has been operating in survival mode for too long, it can start showing up in all kinds of waysâthrough your energy, digestion, hormones, metabolism, sleep, cravings and more.
The goal isn't to fight those signals. It's to understand what your body is asking for so you can help it shift out of survival and into a state that better supports rest, repair and healing.
And that support can look different for everyone.

What if working out didnât actually feel like work? đ˛
âŚand putting yourself first felt natural.
What if you knew how to help calm your nervous system đŽđ¨, shifting from âfight or flightâ into ârest and digestâ?
You might feel more present, grounded, and clear instead of stuck in racing thoughts. đ§đťâď¸
Finding movement you genuinely enjoy can help make that possible. When you make it part of your routine, exercise can support so many areas of your health.
Find what you ENJOY and make it part of your routine. When you choose movement that feels right for you, it becomes something you actually look forward to.
For me, itâs making time to walk outside each day and planning weekend hikes.
It becomes my:
Movement meditation
Exercise
Nervous system reset
Connection with nature, myself, and others
âŚall wrapped into one habit.
And you can find that too. It will look different for everyone.
Whatâs one thing that energizes you, moves you, and supports your well-being? Maybe itâs something you already love, or something youâve been wanting to try. đ
Symptoms can feel like a constant problem-solving project.
Something feels off, so we research it. Try another diet. Add a supplement. Change our workout. Track another number. Find the next thing we need to âfix.â
But in my coaching, I donât immediately jump to another solution.
First, I get curious.
Why might your body be responding this way?
We might start with a symptom, a habit you canât seem to change, an emotion, or even something you keep saying about yourself. Then we follow that thread to see whatâs underneath it.
Sometimes we find a practical need around nutrition, movement, sleep, or routines.
Sometimes we uncover a stress response, belief, or subconscious pattern thatâs been influencing your behavior without you realizing it. Often, both are part of the picture.
But thereâs one thing for sure: your body guides the direction.
Then we can work with your nervous system to create a different response and make the practical changes that support where you want to go.
Thatâs the difference for me.
I donât just want to give you another list of things to do. I want to help you understand why your current response makes sense so we can change what actually needs changing.
đ Follow Madalyn Baer | Nervous System & Fitness Coach for health and fitness that goes deeper than another plan to follow.
The frustration is realâŚ
Itâs easy to get frustrated with your body when youâre bloated again, exhausted even though you slept, craving sugar every afternoon, or just not feeling like yourself.
We usually want to know how to make the symptom go away. Like, FAST.
And of course I want that too for you. But when Iâm coaching, I like to get curious about why itâs showing up and what patterns surround it.
When did it start? When does it get better or worse? Whatâs happening with your food, sleep, movement, hormones, stress, or routines around the same time?
And we can even go a layer deeper.
What was happening when it showed up? What were you feeling? Is there a recurring stress response, belief, or subconscious pattern that seems to show up alongside it?
Thatâs where my approach is a little different. We can work on the practical things like nutrition and lifestyle while also working with your nervous system and exploring the deeper patterns that may be keeping you stuck in the same response.
Weâre not assuming every symptom has one hidden emotional cause, but looking at the whole picture and following the clues your body is giving us.
đ Follow Madalyn Baer | Nervous System & Fitness Coach if you want to understand your body on a deeper level instead of only trying to make the symptoms disappear.
For a long time, health taught us to look at our bodies and ask, âHow do I change this?â
How do I lose the weight? Fix my digestion? Get more energy? Stop the cravings? Get myself to work out consistently?
But 10 years dealing with my health and finally learning about the nervous system, I learned to ask a different question first:
What is my body trying to tell me?
Because sometimes the thing weâre trying SO HARD to change is actually giving us a message.
In my coaching, I donât stop at nutrition, workouts, or a better routine. I get curious with the people I work with about whatâs happening underneath.
- Maybe thereâs a stress response your body keeps falling into
- A belief thatâs been running in the background for years
- Or a pattern behind a behavior that you havenât been able to change by simply knowing what you âshouldâ do.
We follow those clues, work with the nervous system to create a different response, and then use nutrition, movement, and lifestyle changes to support it.
Because lasting change isnât about controlling your body better. (Trust me, Iâve tried that đđťââď¸)
Finally understanding what has been driving the pattern youâre trying to change creates the transformation.
