I’m posting this because I can relate to this feeling immensely. Growing up in a high control religion brainwashes you. Most people understand the definition of brainwash, but to understand living it is a completely different experience and understanding entirely. To have the rug pulled from beneath one’s feet when they completely believed in someone who they admire, (borderline worshipped) is unfathomable. The word cognitive dissonance is an excellent word to use for those who refuse to believe the evidence laid out before them and my heart goes out to them. I hope they heal and I hope they see the monster for who he truly is.

Deconstructing from Christianity left me desperately searching for peace. I found many answers that resonated with me in Buddhist teachings. Although I do not consider myself a Buddhist, a lot of the philosophies are things I already valued highly and I apply them to my life. These teaching have helped me realize that I do not need to KNOW everything in order to live meaningfully.
