Adulting is hard. Midlife is challenging.

Throw in marriage, motherhood, hormones, careers, life changes.

Sometimes the most cathartic form of
self-care is getting outside, moving your body with intention, while talking on the phone to a bestie.

And just maybe… having a good cry!

There’s one thing we all have in common at this stage and season in life… the desire to be heard.

None of us is on this journey alone.

What does self-care look like for you today?

Self-care isn’t always stopping.

Sometimes it’s noticing what isn’t working—and giving yourself what you need to move forward.

Today, that was an iced coffee and a change of scenery.

Awareness is self-care.

The days are long and years go fast…

We pour so much of ourselves into motherhood.

Into our children.

Their childhoods.

Their lives.

And then suddenly we find ourselves watching them ride off to school independently.

💙On a bicycle to junior high.
💜In a car driving to school.

Not needing us.

I remember wishing for the days when my kids could be more independent.

Now I’m counting down the “last first day” of school with dread.

Midlife motherhood is a ride.

It’s a rollercoaster of emotions nobody prepared me for.

Where’s the “what to expect when you’re midlife and raising two teenagers” book?

The guidance I gave to myself today and I offer to you during seasons of change:
✨Be kind to yourself
✨Give yourself grace
✨Feel your feelings and don’t shake yourself for them

….Having mixed emotions about children getting older is normal. 💜

This season, like so many others, calls for self-care!

I’d love to learn how you’re doing - please share in the comments. You never know who might help. 💜

💜Happy National Book Lovers Day. 📚

I’ve always loved to read.

But somewhere along the way, I realized reading gives me something I’m not always very good at giving myself: permission to stop.

To sit. To rest. To disappear into someone else’s story for a while.

To be a human being instead of a human doing.

Turns out, reading is self-care too.
