Para las personas que no la conozcan, en 1881 Clara fundó la Cruz Roja Americana en los Estados Unidos Aquí varios datos interesantes de esta gran mujer.

⭐ Clarissa Harlowe Barton -o Clara, como quería ser llamada - nació el Día de Navidad de 1821 en North Oxford, Massachussetts.

⭐ Durante sus primeros años de carrera, obtuvo con éxito la igualdad salarial como maestra. Como ella dijo entonces, "a veces puedo estar dispuesta a enseñar por nada, pero si se me paga, nunca haré el trabajo de un hombre por menos de la paga de un hombre".

⭐ Fue una de las primeras mujeres en trabajar para el gobierno federal.

⭐ Ayudó a los necesitados durante la Guerra Civil, ganándose el apodo de "Ángel del Campo de Batalla" por su trabajo para cuidar a los soldados en el campo.

⭐ Clara visitó Ginebra, Suiza en 1869 y fue abordada por representantes de la Cruz Roja Internacional, quienes le pidieron que estableciera una sociedad en Estados Unidos debido a su notable labor humanitaria.
