Chop It Up Salon

Operating as usual

today was one of those days that reminded me how thankful i am for what i get to do everyday. i know i come on here and yell at people about no shows and last minute cancellations but i feel like that clouds so much of my joy some days its hard to remember how many people show up for me.

so thank you. really. i love that i get to visit with people all day and most of you open your hearts to me. i am so thankful for our friendships and the love i get to feel for so many of you.

the ebb and flow of life are so unpredictable. i hope this can be a place of support and comfort for you like it is for me.

thank you for showing up ❤️

hello my lil angels!

i have gotten a million questions about maternity leave and booking before and how long i'll continue working.

as of right now i plan on working until the end of july, BUT my evenings leading up to that are almost all full. as you all know i want to get everyone in, and have always worked every evening and all weekend to do so but there's only so many hours in a day and though witchcraft can do so much i can't make more time 🥲🤗 so! if you know you need in let me know, just know my availability is getting very slim. mornings are easier to get in if your schedule allows. if everything goes well i will be back to work end of august for my regular clients.

and again, day of cancellations or no shows for any reason still require a deposit to rebook 🙂

thanks for understanding and thank you for your patience!

i just wanted to spotlight this pretty lil thang, its been a year since i have cut or colored her and last time we lightened the s**t out of her hair. it was STILL FLAWLESS. it felt like silk even after i lightened it today. ugh, home maintenance is so so so incredibly important. full foil and tone and a minimal trim and she back to poppin' 🥂

hello lovemuffins!

starting today, 4/5/2022, there will be a non-refundable deposit of $50 for all color appointments after you no show me. for any reason.

this will go towards ONE appointment after the first no show. if you no show me again it will not be transferred to the next, you will have to put down another.

i understand things happen- we are human. i have spent a lifetime trying to be understanding of this. but this is my job. on top of being a mother, a partner, and also a human. you take money out of my pocket, food off my table, time from my family. ALSO i schedule out for weeks. so not only are you costing me all of this, you take away time that someone else could have taken.

the amount of no shows i have gotten the past year has surpassed any year before. but i promise i would rather have an awkward text from you canceling last minute than have an awkward text when you want back in after you casually no show me.

i love you all very much. and i respect you and all of your time greatly. please do the same for me and my family.

hello! soooo im curious if i would have any volunteers to let me do their hair at cost of product for me to do EITHER shades of pink or shades of blue when we find out the gender next week. i don't necessarily want a full head if you arent already lightened, a lil peakaboo would also be neato 🥳 just something fun, p.s. blues would be pastel shades so they fade nicer unless you bout that life! thank you!

happy international women's day.

i'll be honest, before i got to raise one i truly didn't understand the power of being a woman.

violet is 8 now and she is the most powerful woman i have ever met. she literally breathes fire. she, just as much as i am, is a collection of of all the women we are surrounded by-so this is no surprise. every single day i go to work and i am blessed with the opportunity to be with women all day long that inspire me. you all show me what strength and softness really is. to -really- be mindful of the things i say to women to support and uplift them.

i am so grateful to be a woman in a day that we are taught to stand up and be loud and we do not have to fit a standard of beauty that anyone but our own self has deemed worth looking at. to work towards goals and have careers that enable us to carry ourselves. to be filled with thunder and to strike with lightning.

we can do anything. there are no limits.

hello friends! i got a new phone a couple weeks ago and was not able to transfer any contacts or previous texts. so when texting please include your name!!

i am so sorry for the inconvenience, but very much looking forward to hearing from you 🙂

love you all!

okay 😅❤️🥰🤤

😆🤣 BUT IT'S TRUE! @hairdelamour

this is one of my most favorite quotes i have ever read. i have posted it at different times of my life for years. every time i read it, it means something different to me. this time it made me think of being in the salon with all of you during this crazy crazy time and being open and sad with you all about the world right now. i am so glad i have your support during all of this sickness and loss happening. so many aspects of life right now are changing and im so thankful that we get to grow and evolve and adapt with each other- even/especially in the painful stages.

i appreciate you all so much ❤️ love you

my favorite time of year 🍁🍂

so incredibly thankful to go to work in a gathering place of women that make me feel like love

I think it was Brene Brown who told a story about a village where all the women washed clothes together down by the river. When they all got washing machines, there was a sudden outbreak of depression and no one could figure out why.

It wasn't the washing machines in and of themselves. It was the absence of time spent doing things together. It was the absence of community.
Friends, we’ve gotten so independent.

We’re “fine” we tell ourselves even when in reality we’re depressed, we’re overwhelmed, we’re lonely, and we’re hurting. “We’re fine, we’re just too busy right now” we say when days, weeks, months, and years go by without connecting with friends. I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine. It’s so easy to say even when it’s not true.

We’ve become so isolated and it’s hard to know how to get back. It’s so hard to know how to even begin to build the kind of relationships our hearts need. And I think In our current culture, it’s just not as organic as it once was. It's more work now.

Because you know, we have our own washing machines. We don't depend on each other to do laundry, or cook dinner, or raise babies anymore. We don't really depend on each other for much of anything if we're being honest.
In Brene Brown’s book Braving the Wilderness, she says that being lonely effects the length of our life expectancy similar to smoking 15 ci******es a day. I don’t say that to freak anyone out, but to let you know that the longing for connection is LEGIT. I think we’ve treated friendship like a luxury for far too long; friendship isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.

We don't want it. We kind of need it.

Be independent. Be proud of it. But be an independent woman who realizes the value and the importance of opening the door to other good women.
You can do it alone, but you don't have to. Islands are only fun for so long.
There is true magic when women come together and hold hands and share ideas and share stories and struggles and endless bowls of salsa. You use your gifts, and I'll use mine, and then we'll invite that girl over there who brings a completely different set of skills to the table we are building, and we'll watch together as something miraculous unfold.

my favorite reaction when my clients see their hair is “is that my head??!”

please keep in mind my cancellation/no show policies when considering rebooking after you stand me up.

but more importantly please remember how disrespectful of my time it is, you know? i have been seeing SO many people in this industry posting about this and it’s very disheartening.

we are all human and do forget things but dizamn, if you are just cruisin around at the lake and didnt feel like letting me know you weren’t coming?
